Hi Guys

I am going through hel_l with my K1 visa in the US, apply for my girlfriend back in April everything went pretty fast got the approval she got package 3 did everything than pack package 4 came with the interview date. One week after she got the interview date she received a call from the American Embassy in Bangkok saying the interview is cancled.

The application was recalled back to the US because they forgot to apply a new law call "International Marriage Broker Regulation Act" to my application. Since then, which was back in May, no news call a few time but no one have any updated information on the case.

I was so happy when we got the date she would of been here already, the interview was for early June, now I just wait. I can get an definitive answer from anyone on the US side I hate the wait it's driving me crazy.

Is anyone on this board from the US is going through the same thing I am going through now?

I would Google and read. It seems to be designed to protect the foreign spouse; and for one thing to give them police information on the US spouse before they make the move, in the hopes to cut down on trafficking and domestic violence cases.

If you're in the US and you feel this is taking too much time, I'd suggest contacting your Congressman or Senator.

Once you talk to them, and if they decide to help you, the government office has a set time frame that they have to respond to the complaint.

Good luck.

Thank you for your answers, I am not complaining the law I know the good intension behind is the silence which drive me mad.

I don't want to get my comgress man/woman involve yet I am saving this option if the visa is denied.

Thank you.

Bonviveur,

Recommend you check out www.visajourney.com/forums and go to the IMBRA forum. There are lots of people in the same boat (including me and my fiance) and lots of support and advice about who you can call, what to do, etc.

There've been 10,000 petitions returned to the U.S. due to IMBRA - it's a complete and utter mess.
