Hi there my name is scott i am a uk national and will be 25 when i get there and although i dont leave for thailand till february 2015 and will be leaving june 15th 2915, with the new laws thought it prudent to check what the best option was.

Basically im doing a divemaster course on koh tao however i intent to go to japan for 2 weeks in late march and bali in may . My plan was to get a 60 day tourist visa to do my divemaster fly to japan come back and get and get a 30 day exemption then fly to bali for 10 days and come back and get another 30 day exemption . I also wanted to a trip over to cambodia in so basically . Is my plan even possible and if not whats the best soloution??

With the current regulations, Your plan will work okay, but it won't get you the 900+ years that you intend to stay! It will get you through June 2015!

Yeah the murders i heard about on the news but i have friends who live on the island, who are helping us out plus its much cheaper there than if i did it anywhere else ive looked.

Solid advice though. Just need to take extra care i guess . Hoping giving itll be nearly 6 months since the event by time i arrive everything will have calmed down

A off topic post voicing an opinion about the Koh Tao events has been removed. This is not the forum for those.

Yes it's cheaper there. Because most of the foreigners working there do it without the right visa and work permit

900+ year visa is pushing it - hope you double check your dive table / dive wheel times. LOL. I think you will be safer on KT than many places due to the terrible recent events. Diver down.

Oh come on it was one typo! Its kinda how you look at it really mean back in my home in glasgow you could end up stabbed anyway . If i had the cash id probably do it in japan seen as im studying the language but its like 4 times the price. Ive got friends at asia divers and while everyones upset no one seems to think this was more than just a one off tradgedy

Ment to ask aswell when I arrive back from japan can I apply for another tourist visa on arrival?? Just it would make life easy if I could get a new double entry tourist visa to allow me to visit Cambodia aswell . Sorry .

What you get at the airport is called visa exempt, not visa on arrival. You cannot get any Thai visa in Japan unless you're a resident.
