no non imm O available from Melb, AU

Featured Replies

Just a warning to any Aussie thinking of obtaining a non imm O from Melb. Went there few days back and they said only grounds was visiting spouse or family. Mind you this is NOT what their own official web site states.

Best ( if you have time) is O-A option. This can be done by mail but takes few weeks. I don't have time.

Absolutely no offence to any of the helpful experts on TV but I was advised I could obtain this easily. I'm 60 and applied for single entry. Wouldn't we love consistently.

Update....just rang Canberra Thai consulate. The ONLY basis for non imm o obtained in AU is the visit SPOUSE OR FAMILY.

Single entry or otherwise. Logic makes me wonder why I can obtain one in Thailand. I give up.

You should contact the honorary consulate in Brisbane and ask them about the non-o.

The embassy in Canberra and the official consulate in Sydney will not do a non-o because they do the OA visa only.

Thanks Ubonjoe. I just rang consulate in Brisbane and spoke to io about non imm o based on visiting friends in Thailand and being over 50 . yes no problem!!.

Here's the thing. Melb unlike Canberra and Sydney does not do O-A.

I'm at wits end with Melb consulate. Brisbane says YES and Melbourne says NO.

Going in to melb consulate today. Will have to settle for tourist visa. Funny thing is I fly to gold coast for few days and could drive to Brisbane and obtain non imm o.

How crazy.

Hi guys, I am based in Sydney, married to a thai. Do you know if I can get a non-o visa here. I just presumed I could but am unsure know reading this thread. I will call the Consulate to enquire but would also welcome your input.

No problem to get a non-o based upon marriage to a Thai.

This topic is about getting one for being 50 years old or over.

Thank you ubonjoe

Just send the application, your passport, appropriate fee etc. to the Brisbane Consulate.

Turn-around time 48hr, at least that was the case for me when applying (from Cairns) for single entry non-O in mid-May.

Cheers, AA
