Chao Lao Beach Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Good excuss for a Gov Paid trip to Fance.
Artisi Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Can you imagine the worlds top cyclist having to compete with motor cycles coming at them from all directions, on the wrong side of the road, speeding out of side streets without even a glance of what is coming, making U turns in front of them without any thought of the consequences, and that's not even allowing for the cars and their drivers stupidity. Guess if you called it "Tour de dodgem bikes" people could at least identify it with Thailand.
taony Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Vietnam would be nicer. Along the coast near Hue. Beautiful!
donkeykong Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Tour de France is normally held in July (the rainy season in Thailand) so the organizers are hoping to get the event switched to mid-April 2016 to capitalize on the Thai new year festival of Songkran. This will maximize tourist interest and make for some spectacular and dangerous bike rides through the towns - get your water cannons ready!
kkerry Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Maybe they could run a time trial stage on the Thailand F1 track...
cloudhopper Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Dear TAT if those Tour de France talks don't pan out maybe you can mull hosting the Boston Marathon or the Indy 500. Maybe even Mardi Gras.
donkeykong Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Does the race leader get to wear a YELLOW shirt or a RED shirt?
khunjamesjohnson Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I thought the Tour de France was a tour of France?
Mango Bob Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> Dear TAT if those Tour de France talks don't pan out maybe you can mull hosting the Boston Marathon or the Indy 500. Maybe even Mardi Gras. How about the Super Bowl.
SanukDii Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Cycling all day in 35-45 degree heat and July humidity...... Brilliant idea. Do you think these TAT folk dress themselves in the morning?
CantSpell Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Tour de France in Thailand Thank you TAT for a good dose of weekly ROFL Do they intend to move the full country along the western side of France in the Atlantic ocean and build a bridge to Brittany? ----- Seriously, should give us some early warning about TAT Announcements dates so I can buy adult diapers..... Nearly pissed on myself in the office...
tx22cb Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 TAT delegation meets this French organisation in Paris, so that their junket can be justified. Next, TAT team wants to go to New York to have part of the NY marathon in BKK? And a trip to Spain would be nice at this time of the year ... so maybe propose a Silom leg of a Running of the (Red) Bulls
HeijoshinCool Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Tour de France to be held in Thailand next year "And we will make an arrest in three days …" At least if any athlete comes down with ebola, Siriraj hospital can cure them.
khunjamesjohnson Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Is it true they are also holding the US Open and Wimbledon too? 1
h90 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 It is called Tour the France. I think that France means the location. Thailand could make a Tour de Thailand. Who can go 2000 km with the bicycle and doesn't has one accident wins.
KhunBENQ Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Tour de Phuket starting at the Club Mediterranee Would be great for the French folks. Another innovative idea from the qualified new cabinet minister? Things are looking up!
KhunBENQ Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 It is called Tour the France. I think that France means the location. Thailand could make a Tour de Thailand. Who can go 2000 km with the bicycle and doesn't has one accident wins. Since years they sell their name for single stages through neighbouring countries and even UK. And for good money they would probably do a hell ride.
Commerce Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Buckled wheels after 10 metres........... yeah this is a goer.
mca Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I suppose I'm what some might call a Thai apologist but with the stuff that's coming out recently across a number of threads it's getting difficult.. 2
uptheos Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 They want to do the Tour the France in a country where probably 95% of the citizents couldn't point where France is. And how many do you see out riding a bike?
Popular Post RJF Posted October 2, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 2, 2014 This clears it up...farang may not know Thainess but they are able to separate fact from fiction http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-02/tour-de-france-organizer-may-hold-1-day-race-in-thailand.html 3
Fab5BKK Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 "Falangs do not understand Thainess" This clears it up...farang may not know Thainess but they are able to separate fact from fiction http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-02/tour-de-france-organizer-may-hold-1-day-race-in-thailand.html
speleo Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-02/tour-de-france-organizer-may-hold-1-day-race-in-thailand.html Now that is a bit more realistic. How could TAT confuse a one day race with holding stages of the TdF?
tifino Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 flipped a coin, and guessed Wrong on what they heard
Loptr Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 What a bunch of rubes.... They shoot their mouths off at the hint of deal, then fall flat on their faces, time and time and time again... Anyone remember the hoopla about F1 coming to Bangkok in 2014? Without even knowing the details I will categorically state that the Tour de France will NOT be held in Thailand, ever... 2
pistachios Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 The original idea wasn't as stupid as it looked. Almost every year the TdF has a couple starting stages in another country. Obviously, for logistic and sport reasons (think about the racers who would have to race jet lagged after a 10 hours flight) it will never happen in asia. 1
Popular Post Fiddlesticks Posted October 2, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 2, 2014 NEWS FLASH! Thailand expects to receive the winning bid for the 2024 Winter Olympics! Local officials in Kohn Kaen have assured the Olympic committee that all the alpine events will go off without a hitch. 7
Anthony5 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Will the Tour de France be before, after or simultaneous with the F1 race.
