Air Conditioners Which Brand Best?

Think Saijo Denki is one of the best ones. Had a long talk with the AC technician when he installed my 6 units and he confirmed that Saijo Denki is one of the best and he usualy don't sell them, they were a special order from me.

Mitsubishi is not a good choice according to him because there is some items on them that can't be fixed by "normal" technicians but needs specialists.

This company is mostly selling Trane but said Saijo Denki i better.

I use Saijo Denki because I had 4 units in my first house that are working very well without any problems.

The new Saijo Denki APS units is very quiet which is a big plus.

I have them in my house..very pleased wit them..2 years old, not one problem...so far

DAIKIN is the best brand. But if you are considering price, one should try HAIER aircon. It is made in China, but very durable and 1/3 of the price of Daikin.

I have an investment in a VSAT company which provides communication network for banks ATM in Indonesia. We considered several brands for our VSAT sites and decided to buy 400 of HAIER and 800 of DAIKIN in 2003. Two aircons for each VSAT site, running 12 hour in shift. Amazingly very little trouble with HAIER and no trouble with DAIKIN also. Aircons though are cleaned once every 2 months or so, given heavy usage. We will certainly use HAIER if we get more projects, given the price and realibity.

I have 2 Daikins.. both very quiet and well worth the cash. Especially for the bedroom. Dont want a loud compressor or a squeaky fan waking you up all night..

In the old house I had a Samsung which I bought and sold. Hated it. Loud! Not very powerful

I also had a mitsu which I liked and it worked very well but was very old. 10 years +. I am planning on a Mitzu for the main room downstairs since a Daiken to cover 50 sq meters would bankrupt me.

I need to change one of my old (OLD) Masterlux ac units. No idea where they come from, they were here when I moved in. The old one has had it. They are efficient, although very noisy and the electricity bill is almost as high as the rent.

I'm trying to decide between a Mitsubishi and a Daikin unit, 24.000 btu. Daikin a bit more expensive, but supposedly very quiet, which would make a nice difference to me.

If it were only the purchase price, I wouldn't mind paying the extra baht for the quieter Daikin. I'm a bit concerned about the effect it one brand or the other may have on the electricity bill. I can't really think that any of the two can make my bill any higher than the old units I have now, but I'd like some informed reassurance if anyone can provide it.

Can anyone tell me how much more should I expect to have to pay per month using the Daikin unit vs the Mitsubishi? (if that is really more expensive). In my condo they charge 5 baht per unit. That ac usually is on around 5 hours per day.

the only big big draw back is it need to be clean often.

last year was promotion

the expression Mitsubishi "SLIM" is an oxymoron as they are the bulkiest and ugliest [inside] aircon units i've ever seen. Panasonic is an excellent brand with a good design. i am using Panasonic in another tropical country since nearly 15 years. unfortunately in Thailand i let myself talk into Daikin by my contractor. inside units are very noisy at high fan speed. the same goes for Mitsubishi. both only bearable at low fan speed. Daikin has at least the advantage of 6 different fan speeds. no complaints however concerning noise of outside units as long as they have a rotary compressor.

Samsung has a high failure rate, and constant problems. Many experiences with many Samsung air conditioners, all bad, multiple failure modes. It's one of the worst.

Mitsubishi is the best all-around for the price.

Saijo-Denki is cheap, and good and reliable thus far over several years, but only one experience. But not impressed with their technicians at all.

Any of the newspaper or flayer advertised low price units should work for you. Believe one of the best local made brands is Central Air.

But the world is not getting cooler and we are not getting younger so perhaps a better unit up-front would be worthwhile in the long run (as we tend to use more often). Most showroom units will have the efficiency sticker on them and you can compare usage average costs.

Are you using the sleep mode by any chance (can be uncomfortable temp range using them)? Most units are programmed to start/stop in 1 degree increments (Senji Denki .5 deg) and are very accurate in that - but are dependent on air flow across a sensor in front of cooling coils. If flow is blocked (by filter/other elements) or pushed into the coils operation will be greatly effected. If pushed into coils it will cycle on/off quickly as immediately thinks temp is too low when cooling starts. Usually the temp sensor can be seen as a wire with plastic bump at end and probably attached with a screw behind the filters. You may also be able to adjust air flow to help out - remember the temp controlling everything is what is being drawn into the unit for cooling - so if air is blown to both sides it will help to keep the room at a more even temp than front out or all to one side. You may also be able to change effects by fan speeds.

If I am into performance models, I will consider any models only with R410a refrigerant and inverter compressor. You will save 1/3 or more on elec bills than conventional models. R22 will be phased out soon.

i hope i will live another 30+ years till R22 is not available any more. even in countries where R22 was phased out more than a decade ago it is still available (at a higher price).

The units did a good job for two years with no maintenance except for yearly cleaning. Also what I am off to buy are two Carrier units. I am trying to cool about 100 square meters of floor space so I will need 2 large units. The only problem with the Carrier units is the compressor can be noisy. they hurt my ear so much

I am always a bit surprised that Samsung has such a bad reputation. I have a small 9,000 BTU in my bedroom. I bought that brand because I looked for the best efficiency rating. The unit is now more than 4 years old and other than me cleaning it, it has never been serviced. It does a great job.

Mate, I just bought some new aircon units & I went everywhere trying to look at inverter types. I was repeadly told that mitsubishi did not offer a interter one here in thailand. I basically had two options when it came to inverter models, that being Samsung and Daikin. I have had previous good experience with Daikin, had never owned ANYTHING Samsung, so I threw caution to the wind and bought a Samsung Inverter Aircon & had NO END of problem with it. In the first 10 weeks it was installed, Samsung attended the house at least 6 times before they eventually after much BOXING on the telephone attended and replaced the entire system. The new system has been in for the last 4 weeks and we havent used it because its too cold.

I have now see that Panasonic is now offering inverter models in thailand.

I will give the Samsung a couple of ticks. 1. It is very very quiet. 2. Has many modes & actually worked very well. 3. Very cheap to run

The fault my system had was that it constantly TURNED ITSELF OFF & Displayed Error Codes & an alarm (which is very annoying in the middle of the night when you are trying to sleep). It may be the case that I had a bad unit.

I've had Panasonic in the past with no probs, but I keep reading good things about MrSlim etc.

I have recently had some panasonic units fitted.

And I can say there are excellent, I have got one 24,000 btu and 2 x 12000 btu, I have used air con quite a bit and they seem very good, nice a quiet and excellent at cooling the room very quickly.
