Fake Rocks with Paint-Artist needed in Phuket

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have the Fake cement rocks for a waterfall. 3 meters by 2 meters,, 6 rocks

Need to paint them natural rock type colors.

There must be someone as I see many fake rocks in Patong and the Dino park in Kata.

Any names or numbers would be appreciated.

Would you know anybody in Phuket who does this ?

Thank you

Underwood Art Factory on the By-pass road may be able to point you in the direction of a scenic artist.

"Google" Underwood Phuket to see what they've done- Mainly architectural pieces (but he uses a lot of labour so someone there may know.)

Just a thought.

P.S. Please let me know how you get on.

Get some spray bottles(like window cleaner bottles) fill with watered down flat white, house paint and pigment. Make several colors.

You can finish off with a very lite spray(specks) of black and white to make it look grainy.

Spraying cans with paint are sold in a lot of different colors. In case you do it yourself that way, stand with your back to the wind, and keep your mouth covered.

The trick I found is the spray bottles with hand pump. (Windex bottles)

Set it for a rough spray and do short bursts so you get specks of paint. Dont let it get too wet or it will get 'muddy' looking. Let it dry between coats.

Several shades of greys or browns. Maybe a shot of green on the north side or shaded ares look like moss.

Also a good idea to add some base color to the wet cement mix.

yes, mix the paint with water, about 50/50 so it sprays a fine mist. the cheap spray bottles in homepro work fine (about 49 baht i think?)

you will need lots of coats of different earth tone colors, i did about 100 coats over a period of about 4 days i think

Hmmm......think it would be less labour intensive to just haul some real rocks to your pool.

I guess when he advertised for a "Paint-Artist" he wasn't planning to do it himself.

I was replying to Steve, who did do it himself. C'mon, keep up old man.

I was replying to both Steve and yourself who suggested labour intensive ways to fix a problem.

I don't think the old man crack was necessary. Glass houses.

I'm not the one with "Old" in my name..........besides, I'm not old for another four years when I hit 60.

Anyway, apologies, didn't realise you bruised so easily. Will take that into consideration in the future.

I had a quiet chuckle when you got your first "old" insult on the forum a few weeks back.

And speaking of reaping what you sow, I've seen you get a little testy when posters think you're female.

No worries getting old. It's better than the alternative.

You won't hear me spouting all that guff that only old people spout like "you're as young as you feel", "70 is the new 60" etc.

I am late middle-aged. Old when I hit 60.

Testy when people think I'm female? Nope......otherwise I wouldn't have picked an ambiguous name. I just don't like the presumption from the naive.

I guess you never hauled a load of rock.

I have some real rocks to sell?

The fake rocks will look better & more realistic than a truckload of stacked boulders, if sculpted & painted well.

That's why you see fake rock sculptures in the public aquariums not a bunch of rocks stacked up.

Right, the fake thing looks more realistic than the real thing. Like a computer generated sunset simulation on a big screen looking more realistic than a real sunset.

Yes. The fake rock looks much better than a truckload of real rock stacked up.

Actually almost impossible to recreate a realistic habitat with the real rock.

If you ever have been to a commercial aquarium, 99% of the habitat is sculpted cement. 99% of the visitors don't know it.
