UDON THANI: -- Weeks after police released an 80-year-old man accused of raping three minors and pimping them out to six other senior men, authorities re-arrested him and others after the victims’ families took their story to the press.

Udon Thani police announced yesterday the arrests of Somdee Nam-asa, 80, and five other men aged 60 to 72 for raping three teen girls aged 12, 13 and 15.

One other senior man reportedly fled and has gone to ground in Bangkok.

The three victims, who are cousins, were taken to the police by their mothers on Sept. 9 to accuse Somdee, their neighbor, of raping them several times since March and threatening to kill them if they told anyone.

Somdee then started selling the girls to other senior men in the area for a THB500 commission while he would bribe the victims with THB200 to 400 cash each time.

The victims were sent for a physical examination while Somdee was arrested three days later before released on bail – only to return the village and threaten the victims anew.

What happened to me when I was a youngster, still haunts me today....

The one from the second left has a proud smile is the Pimpasan ? What a shameful men for doing such a gruesome crime, what if their own children and grandchildren abused this way ? Thanks God they are not in Afghanistan for their stoning's.

Speechless... glad that the families of the victims took quick action!

Sick sick sick! And the police standing behind let these criminals off - only doing their job after the mothers went to the press? They must be so proud of their incompetent corrupt selves!

Find this story hard to believe, NO Thai would do such a thing.

Which row are the rapists on?

I think they have too many cops in the picture..... the extra one, second one from the left, should go direct traffic.

"! And the police standing behind let these criminals off - only doing their job after the mothers went to the press? "

There was no money in it for them, that is the bottom line. When the publicity got too much they had no choice but to act then.

sounds a bit odd, why did the parents allow the kids to hang around with this guy after the first incident?

Well, between the Headline and the Picture I'm confused - 7 what, who?

Congratulations to the Udonthani police. At the end of the day, they did their job.

Unlike England, where corrupt police arrested the parents for reporting that their underages girls were raped.

England is the last country in the world that should be lecturing Thailand about how their police should operate.

Time for some duck feed.

^ months= quick action ?

The police already released the grandpa,as if he stole an apple ?

Tomorrow we will read that the mother also took some of the cake?

All possible in los, and yes smile they can !

Police will find these old lechers are really Burmese.

Sure they must have been forced to do this by a foreigner. A Thai would never do this! Perhaps the little girls are at fault themselves? Running around in bikinis or sexy dresses? Or whatever other insults our big mouth officials would like to babble out into the world in front of cameras...

They will find a Burmese scapegoat to take responsibility for this.

Raping these children will these bring good name to thainess?!? , I hope they get prison time for next 80 years and they rot in prison. Sick bastards.

There's a group of people that will never see the inside of a retirement village room...

Despicable people..... but the shame that they bring on themselves and their families

are greater than any jail term....

People should stop throwing Koh tao related remarks into this. It's a completely different story and deserves to be treated as such. Making jokey remarks about other cases will only serve to undermine this case.
