Popular Post NeverSure
Sorry to hear. This would be my biggest fear. I know another guy who was supposed to get 1/2 of a house he bought and he'd even bought a 30 lease on the land. But that did him no good when he went back and some Thais promised to kill him if he ever came around again. If you can afford it, I'd just walk. Life is short enough and I hate court fights. Somehow I get bigger and better emotionally when I just walk from something rather than get into a protracted hassle. At least I know who the better man is. I sincerely hope you can afford to put it behind you and get on with your life. Others may disagree with me and tell you to fight it. Up to you. I wouldn't.
Popular Post daveAustin
I agree. Try and tempt the little witch into letting your son have a holiday in the US and never return. A pig of a woman like that is only interested in one thing, money, which makes it kind of simple. You could try to pursue the forgery of passport angle in the courts, but it will likely drag on and the lawyers will bleed you dry. Knowing a Thai with clout is a major plus to doing things the Thai way... Personally, I'd just try to get my son out and walk. All the best.

Popular Post crazykopite
Life us to short and believe me it will become shorter for you if you pursue her, treat it like the end of a chapter in a book and move on . Yes 120,000 $ is a lot to loose but is it worth being killed for NO. Most expats who live in Thailand have been ripped off some will admit it but most would keep quiet I admire you for being brave enough to come out and open up and tell us your story, what's done is done I hope you can go on and have a happy life !
Popular Post crazykopite
Wondering how someone semi-literate managed to accumulate $120,000. No helping for any guy as daft as the OP. (this can't be real) There are many in the world with no or very little education who have gone on to be very wealthy , it is not a requirement to be well educated to succeed therefore I find your comment " Semi-literate " to be somewhat degrading , offensive , insulting.
Popular Post shirtless
if you have agreements that will hold up in court here and proof she has forged your name to borrow against your assets take her to court , but you should first make a police report for the fraud ,criminal case then go for your assets.
jacko45k
Sorry OP, other than recommending you cut and run I can think of nothing else. Although, perhaps others can learn from your bad experiences. Hey, don't get married and give everything you have to someone you have just met!!! Give it a decade or two .....

Popular Post kwaussie
Ever heard the saying you cant get blood out of a stone, imagine nearly impossible to get money back especially as no proper documentation. Why waste more money trying to get back, plus maybe risk life, an expensive lesson and read the book Private Dancer.

No helping for any guy as daft as the OP. (this can't be real) You shouldn't slag off someone whose first language is not English. There are many people out there that are completly illiterate and are multi-millionaires: The man who invented the "Cats Eyes" used on the roads worldwide was completely illiterate and became a multi-millionaire. Andreas Panayiotou, a London real estate tycoon worth £400 million (roughly $650 million), lives on a 20-acre estate and owns several private jets. At just 45, he’s come from humble beginnings as the son of Greek immigrants and is now ranked as the 200th richest man in Britain. And he can’t read. JAFO
Have you gone to the police and filed a report using a Thai Lawyer? If you don't want to get serious then you should just walk away. The best advice for all in TL is only spend what you are willing to lose. If it goes sideways look at it as a bad investment and move on. I am leaning at a troll. However based on the individuals writing skills and where he met his Thai wife, its plausible. There have been many many internet scammed foreigners. His story along with others that will make news on TV, should be a warning to all.

(this can't be real) I agree. As first he said he spent 60K then 80K well that is 140K but then says he spent 120K so all that does not add up. Story and I do believe it is a story makes no sense. Talking about talking his third trip So assume he is living in the USA? Who in their right mind would spend 80K US in Thailand or anywhere else in the world to get married. Popular Post dotpoom
I'm so lucky, I was born in a country where English is it's native language....had I been born outside of those countries and learned English as a second language, I would be considered "dumb" or "illiterate" were I not word perfect when writing in it, according to some people. I would be very chuffed with myself if I could participate in a forum that was in a different language from my own. I'm really sorry for the OP and I imagine you could do with all the support you can get....in my thoughts (prayers).

apalink_thailand
Agree with other posters that you should obtain a GOOD lawyer. I know one that specialises in family type law and he is a shark. Believe it or not, the Thai legal system can work in your favour as long as you play it right. She is employing village tactics on you and probably hasn't done a good job of covering her tracks, therefore with some good investigative work, a good lawyer and his investigators may be able to dig up some dirt that can possibly catch her out. You may not get your money back but there is still a chance that you could get your son (this is the most important aspect) and possibly an agreement on the property (either you win it outright or it gets sold and proceeds split). I realise that at this point she has probably bled you dry but if you do decided to go the way of a lawyer, don't go cheap. Get a shark. She and her family are counting on you being a weak foreigner without local knowledge. Beat her at her own game.
ford8
Like the blind man said to Vinnie Harold in "The Fastest Gun in The West"...."There's ALWAYS someone faster", . No matter how desperate/tragic our own situation, on Thaivisa, there's ALWAYS someone worse off. Edited October 6, 2014 by ford8
