Extension of stay

Featured Replies

Hi I need advise on the following issue .

My current ED visa is expiring on 17 October. For a new ED visa I am aware that I need to reapply by exiting Thailand and applying from an Embassy for new visa.

Now is there any provision for short time extension for 15 days or 30 days before I exit. Or can I apply for any other form of extension without leaving the country as I have a child from my thai girlfriend.

You can apply for 60 day extension to visit your child. Your child will need to go with you when you apply. You need their birth certificate (plus a copy) and a copy of their house book. The fee will be 1900 baht.

Thanks for your help

Will marriage certificate or child legitimization will also be required? As we are not yet married . Or any proof of funds for 60 days extension on my Non Immigrant ED visa

You need nothing more than the birth certificate showing you as the father and their house book.

You can also get single entry non-o visas with the same documents.

The others are only needed for one year extensions and multiple entry non-o visas.

HelloSir,

As per your advise I had got the extension of stay for 60 days. Now I have exited out of thailand and want to apply for single entry Non O visa from a Thai Embassy outside Thailand. I don't have a marriage certificate as I am not married to my girlfriend. But I have my daughters birth certificate and her house book .

Can I get a Non O single entry with my child's document? If yes it is for how many days?

If no what are my other visa options for visit family without a marriage certificate.

A single entry non-o allows one 90 day entry that you could extend for 60 days.

If you were to legitimize your parenthood you could get a multiple entry visa or a one year extension of stay.

But can I get a Single entry Non O without a marriage certificate?

I plan to legitimize my parenthood once I am in Thailand through court.

I only have my daughters birth certificate and house book now which has my name

Ubonjoe has said that twice already above: yes.

I can add, it is known that some consulates, in certain countries, will refuse that and only accept a marriage certificate.

You can get a single entry non-o with just your child's birth certificate and a copy of their house book,
