Four provinces declared dengue red zones

BANGKOK: -- The Public Health Ministry Sunday declared four provinces in the upper Central and lower North regions as "red zones" for dengue fever due to the high number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease, said yesterday.

Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, and Uthai Thani, grouped as Public Health Region 3, have together reported 1,187 cases of dengue fever so far this year, two of them fatal, said Dr Siriporn Kunchana, the health inspector of the region.

"Compared to the other regions, these four provinces together have the highest prevalence of dengue fever," she said.

Overall, it seems to be increasing everywhere. I know several people in BKK that have gotten it this year--and since they work in A/C, live in A/C etc, they aren't likely candidates to get it. Must be a lot of those mosquitos around.
