I understand that gambling is illegal in Thailand (with the exception of the lottery and the ponies) but what is the status of playing online poker?

Can someone make enough money from online poker to support themselves in Thailand?

Would this be like what some of The Digital nomads do?

Not sure, but would a WP be needed as well?

Its illegal & has been discussed many times, for more info use search bar & do Internet searches all the info you need is out there

As your new to TV, you may not know all the rules about posting questions like this, as you have correctly stated it is illegal in Thailand, even the on line version, although I am led to believe large numbers of self professed digital nomads, ie those who profess to run on line business's in Thailand are infact supporting themselves financially in this manner in Thailand,

I have also heard rumors about something called poker dens or houses in Thailand where these multiple Digital nomads share the rent on a house or accommodation and all they do is play poker illegally on line all day and share costs.

Mr Toad, I believe you could be right....as we have established even on line poker playing is illegal, on suspects a WP couldn't be had and examples like this are a case for Thailand never giving a long term visa for on line activists as a some "on line business' are in fact highly illegal in Thailand, certainly where farangs are concerned, therefore the the authorities cannot control what sort of "business" is occurring on line

another example could be participating in the production of pornographic material in Thailand for use on line, whether straight or gay porn.

I think if you keep the discussion general and none specific you may not be breaking TV rules as such, but you really cant be asking specifics of where these places are in Thailand....I am sure there are many who engage in this who may be members on TV but they can only contact you via the pm facility not on the an open forum..
