In a statement released on Tuesday, the London-based rights group called on Thai authorities to “ensure an independent and thorough investigation into mounting allegations of torture and other ill-treatment by the police, and respect the right to a fair trial” during the murder probe.

Thais do not do anything that harms other people. Especially not cops. Will be interesting to see, if there was such a torture. Thai police documents are pretty often changed, depending on the amount of the customer's wallet.

Wouldn't use the word "forged" for it now. Changed sounds much better, also when telling a monk about the sins.

"The British newspaper The Guardian also reported that photographic evidence, seen by the newspaper, of the alleged abuse of three other Burmese migrant workers who said they had been scalded with boiling water during a police interrogation, had been passed to the British ambassador to Thailand Mark Kent".

What good will handing this to Mr Kent be?, he has already expressed his pleasure in the police forces investigation. Seriously though he has a vested interest in not rocking the boat, if he is really looking out for the British public in Thailand then he needs to do all he can to serve justice for the parents.

I believe many links on here show that he is doing just that! Can someone repaste the link to his twitter page please?

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, especially idiotic ones as spouted on CSI LA & other places but it looks increasingly likely that the DNA evidence isn't sound. Of course, this could be an 'OJ' type case where they have the guilty party but decided to 'sure up' the case by fabricating evidence. whistling.gif

At this stage there is no way, NO WAY, the police are going to lose face on this and be in the wrong, even if it means mixing up DNA evidence and planting evidence for another group to test.

The backlash and loss of face would be too great for them to allow this to happen now.

Mon and nephew / son needed help so they used these 2 to help then Mon and son / nephew killed them due to losing face in the bar

I am very glad to see this arrest falling apart for the police. Shows the real power of the internet and social media.

As off now 47,000 have signed the petition to the British Goverment

It's not just Kho Tao that benefits

All of Thailand will now take a first brave step forward;

even if they had to be hit directly in "their face" to wake up to 2014

Social media and the population of good people can and did make a difference

A renewal of spirit is upon us all

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday called on the Thai public and media not to specifically mention the nationality of the suspects, and suggested that they be referred to instead as "migrant workers", after news reports in global media specified the suspects as the nationals of a neighbouring country all along.

"I need to ask the Thai media for cooperation on this," he added.
