Songkhla Plans Underground Cables For Hat Yai

Featured Replies

SONGKHLA, July 23 (TNA) - Hat Yai, Thailand's bustling commercial centre in the South, will soon be rid of eyesores as a confused tangle of electric power and telecom cables will be moved underground as part

of a project to beautify the city's four major thoroughfares in what is seen as a major boost for tourism.

Songkhla Governor Somporn Chaibangyang said the terms of reference, along with e-auction procedures for the project, are being drawn up, with 17 companies having so far expressed interest to bid for the project.

Bidding for the project is scheduled for September 11 and it is expected that it will take two months to finalise the contract.

Implementation of removing the visually unpleasant tangle of cables and moving them underground should take about a year to complete, the governor said. (TNA)-E007

Please no, not more construction :o they have been working on Saiburi Rd for the last 2 years.

Don't worry, they won't get them ALL buried at the same time. They'll have to dig again and bury the rest later!

This will never happen !

And even if it did, then the first major flood would culminate

in a six month blackout.

As Alan Greenspan put it, Irrational Exuberance.

And we all remember when Phuket was to be the IT hub of SEA.

Then some clear thinking person remembered that the phone lines

on Phuket were hopeless.

Hub of this hub of that :o:D

Naka.

Sure. If this project goes anything like the impending burial of electrical cables on Taphae Road in Chiang Mai has progressed, they'll still be talking about it in the year 2016! :o
