Information for people going from Bangkok to Savannakhet

Featured Replies

whistling.gif Yes I know this is not the cheapest way.

But I just want to get this information to those who may want to know it.

There is a daily flight on Lao Air from swampy to Savannakhet .

The flight number is LV 224 and it leaves daily at 12:40 arriving in Sanannakhet at 14:10 that afternoon.

The fare is about 8000 Baht for a round trip if you book it on the Lao Air website.

However, Lao air is currently offering a promotion fare for that flight of 6450 Baht IF you book it at their Bangkok office.

The discount promotion fare is NOT available if you book on line, only at the Lao Air office in Bangkok.

The Lao Air office address in Bangkok is:

491/17 ground floor, Silom Plaza

Silom Road, Bangkok 10500

Please note: there is a Silom Complex, which is the newer tourist shopping mall.

This is NOT the one you want for Lao Air.

Lao Air is located at the older and less touristy Silom Plaza.

Make sure the taxi takes you to the right place, Silom PLaza and NOT Silom Complex.

By booking the flight to Savannakhet at the Lao Air office and not on line you can save about 1600 Baht by paying in cash Baht right now.

I just did this yesterday.

The girl who does the reservations and issues an e-ticket at Lao Air speaks excellent English.

I'm just passing on this info to those who might want to know.

If you want to book a Lao Air flight on-line you may do so.

I chose to book at their office, because 1600 Baht will by a lot of Lao beer.

If you want to take a 12 hour bus trip from Bangkok to Laos, you are free to choose that also.

Your choice.

Good Post, thanks but why did you had to start the post with whistling.gif

Almost stopped me from reading it ( glad I did read it thumbsup.gif )

The flight goes on to Pakse, and I've used it a number of times. Small planes, but excellent service and a great, if expensive, way to get to Southern Laos from BKK.

I think the cost of the flight may give some readers palpitations for a border run....................wink.png

The bus is not the only option.

You can get a flight to Mukdahan on Nok Air or Air Asia that is a fly/ride service via Nakhon Phanom. Then it is just a matter of crossing the bridge to Savannakhet.

Had a look at his other posts, it seems to be his way to start a post

Lao Air will probably have queues of Pattayans beating down their doors for cheap flights to Savannakhet now that Jomtien no longer process non-O conversions!

IMHO easier and cheaper if they do the conversion in BKK ;)

And if they don't qualify in the first place, they will also not get the Non-o in Savvanakhet.
