Hi I am marrying a thai woman in october this year i have no problems with this but once married I would at some point after selling some uk assets (approximately 9 million baht)want to move there permanently.

In April this year I bought two condos and now rent them out all money from them goes to my g/f and into her bank account and she pays the tax on the earnings although she says we can get a joint account fo this when I am next there. The condos cost 2.7 million baht for both and the funds were brought in from outside thailand and bought direct off the developer and are down in my name. So I have investments there already.

What would be the best way to live there permanently what type of visa and preferably avoidng the 90 day visa runs. I marry her in october. I have a tahi bank account already.

Thanks for any help or if yuo need to know more I will answer here, maybe I am doing this business illegally I am not sure? Thanks

Hi Barry,

If you're over 50, you can do a retirement visa, which I believe there is a section of thaivisa that's dedicated to that telling you what you need to do, etc, etc. If you're under 50 then you can probably do a non-immigrant visa and i'm not sure what the requirements are for that, but this is a big forum with lots of info, so good luck

Once you are married to a Thai you can get a Non-Immigrant O visa based on support of your wife. If you have 400,000 baht in a bank in Thailand you can get one year extensions and don't have to leave Thailand at all. That visa is not age based.

Hi Thanks for the info sounds good about not having to leave the country, do i still have to report my whereabouts every 90 days. What about my investment fo the two condos I have bought woudl this count as 400000 in the bank? I can easily put 40000 in the bank from outside of thailand so that wont be a problem.

Anyone know what happens when you get really old say 85 yrs old and cannot even make it to any consulate to report your where abouts. By tthe way I am 42 yrs old now yes i know its a long way off but I could do with knowing now. Can i die in Thailand ha ha ha Thanks for the replies so far.

You make an address report every 90 days to immigration and that can be done by someone else or by mail. When you are medically unable to do your visa extension of stay each year I am sure arrangements will be made available. Sunbelt has reported doing this for some so it is not a catch-22 situation. But what may be the case today is likely to be very different in 43 years. You have plenty of time (not) to think about it.

Not without the right visa class and permit you can't. If you don't have those you may be deported and banned :o For more information, please check the recent Thai (ghost) movie in your local cinema.
