Seastallion Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 We were at a fresh market today and I saw some mushrooms being sold that I had never seen before. They were sold in plastic bags emersed in a liquid that I took to be water. They sort of looked like shitake but there was a lot of white as well as the brown. Wifey says they are "het met" and that they are used in curries, a little bit bitter. Then she asks if I want to get some to try, "but you have to cook them properly or else you will get drunk". Sounds like they could be a psychotropic fungus, and if so, does anyone know and are there health concerns?
sipi Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I have seen Het Mao or drunk mushroom. Never heard of Het Met. Possibly the same thing.

Popular Post thequietman Posted October 14, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 14, 2014 Surely a het met is what you should have on your head when you ride your motorbike. As in, 'where's your het met. I have to fine you 100 baht." Yes? 3

Seastallion Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 I wonder if I should "acquire" a few bricks from the construction site next door? Mind you, I won't be able to carry many on the bike. I will get a large tile....it should serve as a pizza stone.
