Turning tourist visa into Non-B...Where / How?

Featured Replies

Many know the situation already. One avenue I'm considering is going up to mae sai and attempting to use the tourist visa in my passport, then using that with the waiver/ and work permit to "transform" my tourist visa into a Non-B without having to go back to Laos.

What exactly are the steps... and... documentation required for this..

And, can it be done in CM immigration?

It can only be done in Bangkok and may take 2 trips to get it. For most conversions they have people come back in 2 weeks to get the stamps.

You would need a completed TM86 form and all the paper work needed for an extension of stay application.

Okay, so basically everything the school has prepared for a standard extension at immigration (waiver/work permit/contract etc...) + TM86.

Can a school representative go in my stead?

Exactly where in BKK?

Thanks again ubon, you're help has been invaluable.

You would have to go yourself. It would be done at the immigration office on Chaeng Wattana road in Bangkok.

I think I would make a trip to Vientiane for a visa rather than risking a wasted trip to Bangkok if they were to deny the application for one little thing being wrong with your documents.

You have to go out of the country anyway, so to apply for the non-B directly would probably be the most easy solution.
