OK, we will move on from whether or not you can sell out you mini-stadium and I will post the important point of the post again.

Hang on a minute. I don't believe you have admitted you are wrong yet. That's important to us and I'm sure Jimbo (who I just sent a PM to by the way) will be interested to hear your response.

No I'm not wrong Smokes. If tickets are not available, it's YOUR own clubs official web site that is wrong and not me. I am in no way related to your club and cannot write or alter anything that is written on your official web site. Maybe in future, anything that is taken from your official web site should have the caveat "This information is taken from the Tottenham Hotspur Official web site and so could be a right load of cods wallop" biggrin.png

Smokes.

I posted an innocent article in which I am proud that we are still selling reasonable priced season tickets. You saw the original post and there was no slagging off other clubs. Here it is again with alfie's post that set it off:-

In todays economic climte, I think this is quite good to see.

Manchester City tickets as cheap as Macc Town!

Premier League champions Manchester City's cheapest season tickets are comparable with the best on offer at Blue Square Bet side Macclesfield Town.

The Blues come out well in a BBC survey into the price of watching football.

The cheapest season ticket for City is £275, and only Wigan can beat that at £255 in the Premier League.

According to the report, Macc charge £289 for their cheapest season ticket, although Macc themselves confirmed that their cheapest ticket was £275, and an early bird offer had them at £220.

The numbers of City's cheapest season tickets are limited, however, and the Blues' most expensive season ticket comes in at £695 as opposed to Macc's £289.

I suppose thats one way of making sure you get a full house every week !

Should I not have retorted?

Ah well here is a transcript of the telephone conversation I just had....

THFC spokesman: Good morning, how can I help you?

smokie36: Hi I'd like to complain about a glitch in your website. Your site shows tickets are still available for the Chelsea match yet its all sold out.

THFC spokesman: But its on Saturday! Surely you knew it would be sold out??

smokie36: Oh the tickets are not for me.....it seems a Man Citeh fan was looking to drop in and watch the match.

THFC spokesman: <laughter can be heard on his speakerphone by now> Oh yeah that lot....well surely even a thick northerner would understand that this fixture could be sold out three times over?

smokie36: It would seem not....even though he is an avid fan by all accounts.

THFC spokesman: We could change the website I suppose....but ALL of our games are sold out weeks in advance....I thought everyone knew that!

smokie36: All bar one....

THFC spokesman: Bwahahahahahaha!

I put the phone down out of respect for you at this point mrboj.....

Where was i slagging anyone off BJ ? all i said was "I suppose thats one way of making sure you get a full house every week !" a perfectly honest statement for someone to make and by the way, no one answered my question "Do you not think that if they could charge a lot more and still get full houses they would ? Believe it or not, you only have a small following, so he's the idiot thinking everyone knows about what Spurs do.

Anyway smokes, we have had conversations about your short temper with airlines. I could imagine your reaction trying to book a flight if the airline operated in the same way.

"smokie" Hey Etihad, I've just spent hours trying to book a flight where your web site said available and then I get to the payment screen and it says, no availability.

"Etihad spokesman" c'mon smokes, the flight is on saturday, surely you know we sell out weeks in advance. Thanks for your custom, please fly with us again.

no one answered my question "Do you not think that if they could charge a lot more and still get full houses they would ? "

Well I'll have a go at it Alfredo.

Clubs employ bean counters who look at various issues of fan demographics and set prices where they think will maximise revenue.

If you have a large stadium which is difficult to fill then prices are lowered a little to reflect that and put more bums on seats which from a playing perspective is also good.

Now for clubs who sell out every PL game its a different ball game. Prices reflect the demographic of course and in London wages are high...and that is reflected in season ticket prices.

It aint pretty but looking at Man Citeh prices are steadily rising and will continue to, possibly to the point where some traditional fans will no longer be able to afford.

In my opinion that will be a sad day for your club so just be thankful you have such benevolent owners...for now at least.

Read it more slowly alfie. I said "You saw the original post and there was no slagging off other clubs." . I didn't say you was slagging anyone off but your post was a dig suggesting we do it to ensure we sell out every week.

Sorry smokes, but that isn't the case. For home prem games, when you take away the wasted seats that are used for seperating away fans, we are almost completely sold out week-in, week-out. Alot of the offers are actually about making it possible for children to come, our future supporters.

I also think your demographics argument is flawed somewhat. Yes, London is more expensive but why are West Ham, QPR, Fulham and even Chelsea significantly cheaper than you if demographics was the only reason?

Its grim oop north Alfredo! biggrin.png

With tickets for the southern local derby still for sale smokes, it seems it's grim down sarf also.

You have absolutely zero chance of buying a Spurs/Chelsea ticket legitimately 48 hours before the game. Can't believe you'd think that mate!!!

Now don't forget that this is weekend in Saudi, so I have lots of spare time. Anyway, just went to this site http://www.gofootballtickets.com/cart/checkoutand got all the way to the checkout. Still available for £330.00 for 2 seats.

Precisely why we need a much bigger stadium. We have another 25000 on the waiting list.....meanwhile you aren't able to sell out your ground every week.

I'm beginning to understand why you thought buying a ticket from the Spurs website two days before the game might be possible! biggrin.png

As to why our season tickets are the price they are....its simple....people will pay that price. End of.

There are loads of legit ticket sites and I see absolutely nothing to suggest the site isn't a legit ticket site either.

Right got to go and cut the grass, can someone let me know when BJ has answered this question

"Do you not think that if they could charge a lot more and still get full houses they would ? "

No. As I said, we get sell out prem games week-in week-out. We could charge more and still sell. As I said it's probably down to enticing children but either way andf whatever is the reason, making matches cheaper shouldn't be knocked.

Of course you can buy tickets from a tout. You can do that for ANY game mrboj....only the cost varies depending upon availability and what they think they can rob you of.

A "legit" ticket tout? Yeah mate one who sells you a ticket rather than the dream of one? rolleyes.gif

By legitimate carmine meant through the club as you well know. wink.png

Let's see how many you sell if you get the stadium smokes. Waiting lists mean naff all and you well know it. I have been on countless Golf waiting lists and for one reason or another (usually job commitments), not joined any.I would be amazed if even half of those 25,000 take up the option when offered.

We currently have about 36,000 season ticket holders and about 15,000 on the waiting list smokes

Just had a quick look mrboj...we have 64411 members currently signed up for us. Nearly 30000 of them are on the waiting list....with 23500 season tickets currently available.

Wrong there BJ, your ground holds 11,690 more than our ground, thats not the same as getting 11,690 more every week, in fact your average attendance over the last 20 years is only marginally higher than ours by 1,154, so i would imagine out match day revenue over that period is a lot higher than yourselves !

Incidently your only running at 97% capacity for this season so any price increases i would expect to bring that figure down even lower !
