Popular Post binjalin
Nice to see Thailand's first female PM treated with the respect and courtesy she deserves. Majority of Thais are not fooled by what's happening and "will be back". Fighting FOR democracy in HK and suppressing it here well let's hope the "reforms" are fair and genuine and then PTP will be back in one guise or another at the ballot box (as it should be)

Popular Post animatic
A legitimate excuse for a gathering. The facade of it not being political was just large enough to let it happen. Without a doubt the conspiracies flowed like wine, and the talk veered towards memories of power. The social reinforcement of their group plans went upward like a three finger salute. Make no mistake this was a political gathering, showing the flag of allegiance, with a deceased ex-politician, who self-exiled, held up as an icon for the cause. I wonder where and when we have seen this before; self-exiled icon for the cause? The cynicism shown was world class too. Not the cremation aspect, because I am sure many missed and respected their old compatriot / co-conspirator. But the pretension of this not being a political rally was totally disingenuous. Clearly judging by the newly acquired extra chin on herself the last year has been more than a little stressful, but the dutiful sister must do for the clan what it's liege lord demands, filial devotion and obedience, no matter the cost to self. The question remains what road blocks to clan plans will be implemented. This is a grand showing of renewed intent, but with the prosecutions pending, might this have been too much of a thumbing of the nose to the powers that be?

EnglishJohn
I think the irony that the 3-finger salute is from a children's book lost on these people. Do they really believe they share the same cause - or do they not really have any clue what they are doing ?. I wonder how many of them have actually read it or even seen the film. At least 'V for Vendetta' was based on Earth.

robblok
A nonentitiy presiding over a non event in Nontaburi. Looks to be a little more than that, on both counts. That temple is 2km from my house, I am always amazed how they can make it look big. But of course people who never been there would say its real crowded. Think there are more people in the village that I live then at that funeral. Indeed a non event but its good they all got a chance to pay their respects. Stupid that they had to show the three finger salute. Shows again how understanding the army is. Going in against the army and not getting arrested. Do they really believe they share the same cause - or do they not really have any clue what they are doing ?. I wonder how many of them have actually read it or even seen the film. At least 'V for Vendetta' was based on Earth. Indeed it is a well known fact that supporters of Yingluck and the PTP have no access to internet or the ability to visit cinemas and will therefore not be able to see the irony. Even though it was widely reported that O'Cha and his band of merry men had banned the 3 finger salute as a political act, they, being uneducated, would not have realised that the use of a device in a film ostensibly about people fighting back against a repressive regime which divides to rule, could conceivably be relevant to the current situation in Thailand. However copying the ideas of the "Occupy" movements outside of Thailand whilst campaigning against the government reveals a far deeper awareness of political campaigning - and let's face it, "at least V for Vendetta was based on Earth". I mean, what were those red shirts thinking?.................................................

See that's the problem with people that don't roll over and let the junta tickle their tummy, rubl. They have independent thoughts and a strong sense of their rights having been taken away from them, and, despite the master of ceremony pleading with the attendees to keep calm, they just went and displayed their emotions. They even applauded the former PM Yingluck when she left to show their support. How shocking is that? What can you do with people like that? According to you and others, including the self appointed incumbent in the PM post, Repress Them.

Anyway at last Ms. Yingluck got applauded again, on the way out. She must have missed the public manifestation of the adoration of the faithful. bernd1616
i just imagine she would change to the udd party and she have full controll of the army. than she really could clean up thailand from all kind of mafia, stopping the exploration of the huge mass of thai people living in poverty, put a high tax on net profits, taking the half stolen money away from the super rich and give it back to the ordinary thais, create a good health and education system for them, erase corruption and build a very good police force....... thailand could be a paradise. but i could bet if this happens the usa will tell this is a dictator goverment and will bomb it away as usual. by the way. for the usa the babaric islamist dictatorships in the arabian league don´t need democracy nor respecting the human rights :-D wonder, why so many farang can see what happens in their countrys of origin (where the rich getting richer and richer and the poor even more poor every day) are against a good socialist goverment, knowing the so called conservatives all over the world ruling only for the rich and the corporates. nobody up to the high middle class should be afraid of a very good left wing goverment. but some people got brainwashed from the major media not knowing or ignoring the owner of them are very rich too and defend therefore themself and the other rich too. this you can see very clear in the uk, usa, canada, germany, australia and so on. How embarrassing for the dead guy's family if she actually di preside over this ceremony - a useless PM who was only there because of her meglomaniac criminal brother.
