Interior Ministry sets up corruption claim center across Thailand

BANGKOK, 22 October 2014 (NNT) – Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda has set up a committee to investigate corruption cases throughout the country.

According to General Anupong, people can now also file a corruption complaint at the Damrongtham Center at any of its branches throughout Thailand. The Interior Minister said corruption is a serious crime, especially at the local level.

The committee will investigate the claims by working alongside provincial governors and chief district officers. People are encouraged to report any irregularities within a government project. Anyone guilty of corruption will be punished under the rule of law.

General Anupong also dismissed claims that the Interior Ministry had been wrongfully involved in the subsidy program for giving rubber farmers 1,000 baht per rai. Nonetheless, the ministry will investigate the truth on this matter.

You can see exactly where this is going!

Blind leading the deaf, dumb and blind!!!

Damn, they're gonna need to expand the staffing . . .

Maybe use the inactive posts, to man this!

One wonders were these branch offices will be set up ? Sharing office space with the BIB at the local police station ?

Damn, they're gonna need to expand the staffing . . .

Especially if they intend to protect the little people who file charges against more powerful people. What do you think will happen to the tuk-tuk drivers and street venders who complain about the 'tax' imposed on them by the police?

Well that's the unemployment sorted out and more...Does he know what goes on in his country..

And more to the point who's going to protect the whistleblowers..

Another well thought out plan...not...

mind you...wouldn't it be wonderfully if it did work...but with the BiB looking on

its going to hard...

they could of course just sack all the police..that would deal with over half !!

And Genreal Anupong's personal net worth is? coffee1.gif

Edit: Anupong completed a primary education from Bangkok's Phanthasuksa Pitthaya School in 1965 and Thai-British Curriculum Amnuay Silpa School in the following year, a military education from Thailand's Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School in 1967 (Class 10, meaning that he was a classmate of Prime Minister-to-be """"""""Thaksin Shinawatra""""""""

But when they PM's office buys microphones with 100% surcharge or TVs about 5 times more expensive than a consumer, then that's not corruption and all is fine.

We can all see what happens to complaints filed there... Garbage bin.

They have a very long road ahead of them to prove they mean it.

Good luck!

"provincial governors and chief district officers"

Because there's no way they'd be involved in corruption ...

Dear TV members. Please, enough negativity! There is a positive future in this new initiative.

Redistribution of illegally collected wealth.

Why consider work if you hold an inactive post?

Hardly a new initiative, dozens of similar programs and campaigns have been set up over the years with little to no effect. Dont get to get your hopes to high about any sudden redistribution wealth

And today's 5 minute wonder is ... coffee1.gif

No need to set up more offices or hire more staff, the BIB have the answer - get the 7-11s to collect the paperwork so it can be filed in the correct toilet cubicle

nice little earner for the office staff, sit all day in an air-con office doing nothing

Finally some wealth-distribution!!

According to the headline it is corruption claim center!!

So I take, it is an office where the average Thai can claim his part of the pie!!whistling.gif

Maybe, just maybe if they provided contact information such as a website, email, phone number, more people would have a better chance of reporting. They always seem to leave out the most important aspect of their 'great' ideas.

As long as any potential whistle-blower has to fear for his life (or at least serious repercussions), most Thais will keep their mouth shut.

For this idea to work, an organisation independent of the police/military/administration is required. Can´t see that happening in Thailand in the near future.

"...corruption is a serious crime, especially at the local level".

Presumably institutionalised , centralised corruption is not such a serious matter?
