Featured Replies

I send 50.000 baht to my friend that he needs to pay his recover in hospital. but I just notice that I forget to write the last letter of his name. With all the information correct, also the mctn number, could be a problem for him to pick up the money?

Yes, it could be a problem.

Information must match his ID exactly.

You can cancel and resend with the correct spelling.

It's a pain in the butt, but it is for your protection.

Well my girlfriend just got rejected because her Thai name wasn't on the ticket? Is this something new? Her Thai id has both Thai and English, but clearly the agents didnt want nothing to do with the English name, even though it matched to a T. The only difference was the capitalization. WU puts the name in all Caps, I can see where a Thai person couldn't distinguish between a capital F and lowercase f.

She went to 3 different locations around Ubon Ratchathani, including a "Bangkok bank agent" and was told the same thing. Must have "Thai Name" to get money. Calling WU didn't help any, so I guess I will go get my money back tomorrow.

So I went online tonight to see if I can indeed create a new "money in minuets" transfer, using her name in Thai, and the website will not take Thai charterers.

Go figure

I guess my girlfriend figured out what the problem with her ID was. Apparently, when she got her last ID months ago, her name needed to be changed because she is now divorced. Whoever did the English translation of her name, did not do it correctly. So this may be our issue and not Western Union.

The govt district office that issues ID cards, house registrations, etc., are the ones who did the translation and Thai ID cards are in Thai and English. So, just use the English spelling on her Thai iD card and you should be good to go.
