Popular Post zaphod reborn
There's always a risk of death when anesthesia is administered. I hope this is investigated by the Department of Health, but most hospitals and clinics would have a patient sign a consent form for the surgery.

slapout
It might be of some assurance of compentency of these institutions to those going under the knife, if they were admitted a day early, checked for alergic reaction by qualified/trained personnel who specialize in adminstration of anaesthetic. This is the secomd instant of this type of death reported in the past few weeks.
Popular Post aussieinthailand
RIP to the young lady, with luck just a misfortunate occurrence and not malpractice as getting justice is a rare thing in LOS. The problem is with so many of these clinic's that they don't have a resident doctor at all times, and some not at all, and treatments are done by nurses and nurses assistants. maybe another health/beauty clinic crackdown will help.

Popular Post JeremyBowskill
Last time I had an operation in the UK they put it back by 2 weeks as I had a cold, apparently you are 4-5 times more likely not to wake up if you have a cold....... Bet this was 1 of many things that wasn't checked.

kurnell
This will do wonders for Thai medical tourism. Perhaps they can blame the victim this time as Doctor Somphop Saensiri doesn't sound like a Burmese name?
Popular Post Ricardo
RIP. Brits and Burmese should think twice before coming to Thailand. RIP Brits and Burmese (also any other nationality) should think twice before taking unnecessary treatments, it's a dangerous world out there, and people need to take responsibility for their lives, regardless of which country they're in. But Brits are raised on the fable of a competent properly-funded well-equipped patient-focused national health-service, they ought to know better, and be just a tad more cynical/worldly. Popular Post Prbkk
Yes, there is always a risk: precisely why these procedures, if done at all, should be conducted in a facility with adequate emergency support equipment...ie, a hospital rather than ( in some cases at least) rented space in a shopping mall.

Agree. A lot of these clinic doctors work full time in some hospital and do their clinic work evenings and weekends, so goodness knows how tired they must be. Those on here that read Shery'ls posts, will note that she always warns against having a GA in a clinic.
