Can anyone tell me what ''batthayak'' means? (Spelling as given to me by a Thai colleague). Failing that can anyone tell me what the Thai words for tetanus and gangrene are? (I have neither, am not a doctor and just need to know what the right words are.)

Battayak is tetanus.

บาดทะยัก bàat-thá-yák = tetanus

เนื้อร้าย néua ráay = gangrene

It actually makes perfect sense now I think about it - "malignant tissue/meat" as opposed to "dead tissue/meat".

I've heard เนื้องอก for tumor.. how is it used differently from เนื้อร้าย?

I'd guess that เนื้องอก is a growth, could be either malignant or benign, or perhaps only benign.

And เนื้อร้าย would mean exclusively malignant tumors, I take it.
