Very Disappointing 90 Day Immigration Visit!

"In fact, I read so many negative stories on TV about bad experiences with Thai Immigration..."

Thai Immigration at Korat, where you went?

Or maybe Thai Immigration in Chiang Mai, where the complaints are legitimate?

You do realise you have used up some of your immigration office good luck with that visit. Under the natural law of the universe you are now more likely to have a bummed-out immigration office on one of your subsequent trips. It would have been better if this trip had been tricky but you had manoeuvred your way through it, slaloming skillfully between various counters and recalcitrant officials. As it is now, you are up for a difficult time ahead. Ponder on that, my friend.

I had 2 visits up to now to Khon Kaen immigration and I was exactly as unlucky as the OP describes.

Please Briggsy, don't jinx me......I'm due back in November.

Why waste time even g

oing, just pop it in the post ! much less hassle.

It would be nice,

But not every office permits you to do it through the mail.

I am happy to have an office where the officers are friendly and easy to deal with....

compared to stories I hear about other offices.

And besides, the Korat office is surrounded by about 100 pottery shops and a few good noodle stands...it makes for a pleasant outing

and I have picked up a few nice decorations for the home there as well.

It's all good.

Would double check that one. Pretty sure the mail-in option is nationwide.

Just a minute, please explain to the readers why you choose to waist your time going to the immigration Dept normally many wasted hours to submit your 90 day's when you can post it with a return stamped envelope.

Stroll on. Sounds like you have a riveting life going on there, op. I would personally rather not have to waste my time doing it, but each to their own. Hope your next 90-dayer is as stupefying. ;)

I'm just disappointed you posted this rubbish and I wasted my time reading it.

And even more time was wasted by replying smile.png

U fail COTB

Sorry, I didn't realise that this was a competition for being the biggest tit on Thai Visa, well done on winning.

I would also prefer to waste my time by going to Immigration.

I do not trust the mail service in Thailand at the best of times, never mind for something as important as doing your 90 day reporting.

I have had loads of mail go missing in the past and a few of these were even EMS mails.

In fact I had a parcel of goods sent from within Thailand and through EMS that were delivered to a factory about 3 kms away, it was signed for by the security guard on the front gate of that company.

It was only because someone that I knew had a contact in the postal service that we were able to find out where the parcel had been delivered to.

90-day reporting is a big non-event.

You wonder why you have to go there all the way (drive for an hour, spend time waiting) for something that takes 47 seconds.

Time they let you do it at the 7-11 (as mentioned in another thread) to save everybody some time.

I did my 90 day report at Nakhon Sawan on Monday morning.

I was the only customer and was in and out in 5 minutes.

She took my passport and checked it on the computer then printed out the report with my name on it though I did gave to fill my address and telephone number.

The only paperwork she wanted was a signed copy of my passport and a signed copy of the departure card.

NS Immigration is a good place staffed by farang friendly staff and in the front office they are all women.

it amazes me how many cant handle a simple visit to a government office.

one wonders what these people did for a living before they washed up here.

Stop by Chiang Mai Immigration and ask one of the many foreigners sitting there waiting for hours to get their visa extension. They should have the time to talk.

Lop buri also no problem, scan the PP with a hand scanner, form is printed out, they sign it, the bottom bit is ripped off and stapled into the PP, thanks, on the way home.

Takes longer queuing at the Post Office for the stamps!

We are now enjoying two residences...one in Chiang Mai (vacation) and one in Udon (wifes property). Well, suffice it to say that I am applying for my one year extension , and doing my reporting in Udon. Later on, I will report by mail, after we decide if we will be permanently moving to Chiang Mai. My wife's 22 year old just got transferred to Udon out of Bangkok. Her other 19 year old is going to the University here in Chiang Mai. All our leases, banking, car and motorbike purchases, and wife's family are in Udon. I just cannot handle the Immigration here in Chiang Mai. Some people probably do not mind it... Udon is much better for all that. Similar to the OP's experience in Khon Kaen. Been going there for 4 years (udon) for extensions and other immigration related matters.

Yes...I will eventually let one of my places go, but for now, it is Udon

Have had nothing but quick efficient service from immigration at chonburi the last 2 time I have gone. I think those that have problems a lot I of the time don't go prepared.

Personally I never have an issue in Khon Kaen, but I do recognize offices vary.

That being said, the majority of us are retired, non working whatever, and time is the one thing we have plenty of. If every 90 days you end up wasting a whole day, in the cosmic scheme of things it ain't so bad
