Mr Wine Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Drinking wine in Thailand is a real issue as high taxes make good wine out of range of most people.
Costas2008 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Thank you for telling us Mr Wine and welcome to TVF. Any suggestions on descent wines we can have in Thailand?
namdocmai Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 We had a bottle of red Australian wine on the counter, it was half full, closed and standing there for 4 weeks. I wanted to dump it buy my wife said i should drink it. I thought she made a joke, i smelled it first, tasted it and it was still good! serious! I didn't drink it though but put it in the freezer for cooking, makes great sauces. In Europe the wine is sour after 2 days, what did those Aussies put in this wine?
gerry123 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 well MR WINE please tell us unless you do count me out for any capitol sharing scheme you may have considered or are considering posting about
Mr Wine Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 I am surprised by the number of answers my post has generated... It seems that wine is a real sensitive issue here! Soutpeel, your post is quite aggressive but you are right on one point, I did not put any link...Here it is: < Link removed > Actually, I am just a wine lover who has set up a blog/website to help wine lovers to be aware of wine events and sources of information to learn the world of wine. There are more than 60 wines importers in Thailand. You can find any kind of wines on the market from so called "fruit wine" as Montclair, Vendome, Belleville and many other entering the market under this name to escape taxes to high end wines smugled for most of them. There are also delicious Greek wines. So far two companies are importing them in Thailande: BBandB and FIN. You can taste them at Olive restaurant. Although not about wine and not posted on my web site, there will be a major event next Tuesday at Okura Prestige Hotel... If you like Sake, the Sake Festival should be the biggest of his kind in Thailand. I will attend and might see you there. Cheers!
gerry123 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 your post is quite aggressive but but sooo true
