People have to be cautious in picking up dead wild birds

The province of Phetchabun has issued an announcement to members of the public that they can carefully bring in the remains of wild birds that have unusual death to the provincial natural environment and resources office. Meanwhile, the examination on five species of 111 dead wild birds does not indicate that they contracted avian influenza.

Mr. Prasert Limrotsook (ประเสริฐ ลิ้มรสสุข), the natural environment and resources officer in Phetchabun, said people have to be careful in picking up dead wild birds, and they are advised to wear gloves or thick layers of plastic bags. They should not be in direct contact with the animals’ remains. The remains have to be tightly sealed and frozen, and they have to be delivered to the provincial natural environment and resources office as soon as possible. However, if the remains are old, they need to be buried or incinerated.
