general has forgotten, that there are social media and international media with an easy access from thailand. The censorship is different this time, than after the coup in 2006.

yingluck is an elected pm and not a fugitive, it's her pictures appeared standing together her brother (2x elected pm).

and they are coming back

This, in addition to already erasing Thaksin from kids school books, national reconciliation indeed.

The General is both envious and jealous of Thaksin.

"The main difference between envy and jealousy is that envy is an emotion related to coveting what someone else has, while jealousy is the emotion related to fear that something you have will be taken away by someone else."

Envious of Thaksin's enduring mega popularity.

Jealous that Thaksin will, in due course, take back government.

Ban, censor, suppress, threaten, harass, assault, demean, belittle and trample on the people as much as you like, this all only ends one way, with Thaksin Shinawatra back in the big chair and a great many Generals whiling away the hours in inactive posts.

Bomb, cheat, lie, steal, murder, mismanage the funds of the electorate and burn the Capital. Tell your Storm troops that you will be right there with them on the streets of Bangkok....but don't show up, add cowardice to his list of crimes. That Thaksin has the power to endear himself to the weak minded.

It's gonna bu@@er up this forum for you and several other rabid junta maniacs if you have no mention of Thaksin to vent your spleen at. Almost feel sorry for you.

Most of us will get on pretty much as we used to do. Most of us would not normally even mention Shins etc, but are baited with anti PM propaganda that brings out this Bad comparison and Shins brought back to compare----hadn't you noticed ??

Surely you don't think that the majority of TVF will have un savory posts re Thaksin every day, most are not interested much UNTIL !!!!

Why would anyone in the world oppose the type of government (we aren't allowed to name it) currently at play here, unless they were bought off by the Thaksin billions?

...Says the man who continually posts about not being interested in the points of view of others should they contradict his. Why post on an open forum, then? That said, I would always defend your right to do so, even though you may be highly critical of me and what I stand for - a concept you sadly seem to be unable to comprehend.

Hunt down this SOB. Bring him back in chains and lock him up.

Charge him with TREASON.

Case closed

You might have missed the part in the middle - the bit about being proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt in a court of law with a legal team present to defend him before the case is closed - or is this dreadfully old-fashioned thinking these days?

But that's different, they were only drug runners and he (Thaksin) was one of our beloved ex PM's

Alleged drug runners, ex judicial executions, no trials. Democracy and justice a la Shin.

Strange how you adopt a different stance with respect to the KT murders.

No. Not at all. I never support lynch mobs, trial by media, trial by social media and witch hunt type accusations of murder.

I don't support executions without trial by vigilantes or anyone else, especially the state. Do you?

Thaksin is synonym with corruption.

To fight corruption, we have to fight Thaksin.

To stop corruption, we have to stop Thaksin.

So it was Thaksin who overpaid for the microphones and framed the two Burmese boys?

Also, I didn't realise that there was no corruption in Thailand until Thaksin became PM. Since he is now out of the picture, I guess there is no more corruption in Thailand either.

If you're going to talk the talk, you've also got to walk the walk.

The General has got the talking bit down pat, it's the walking bit that he's not doing so well in.

Now that Thaksin is gone has there been even the slightest of drops in corruption - no, I'm sure time will show it's been quite the opposite and the microphones are just the tip of the ice berg.

Only fools bought the corruption story and only fools of the highest order still buy the corruption story.

Didn't Yingluck announce campaigns against corruption, and did a nice photo op with a big anti-corruption sign.

Even announced there was no corruption in her administration. The irony went over her head........... not surprising.

Blatant Shin propaganda from the latest recruit.

What ever happened to Richteacher, Mutley, and all those other wonderful comedians who posted such drivel before and then disappeared.

The Shins not corrupt - no course not. How many family members is it with fraud convictions now?

I have to concur with the above as being a fair and balanced assessment of the most likely outcome

Of course you would concur with any Red Rant

That a rational overview of the potential endgame here confuses you does not make it a "red rant". Grow up please.

I quite agree with this. Thaksin is just too polarizing for Thailand and besides there is nothing really newsworthy about him anymore.

You are quite wrong then.

The Juntas dislike for Thaksin stems from the fact that he unites too many Thais (and therefore continues to win election after election).

To say that there is nothing really newsworthy about Thaksin is even more wrong than your first error.

This country will eventually be back in Thaksin's hands and how that change of government occurs will affect millions of peoples lives.

There will most likely be more deaths and most certainly be more economic hardship before the ghastly yellows are finally done away with for good.

Actually, he is very right. Thaksin DOES unite too many Thais. Those that love him AND those that hate him. That's why he is "polarizing".

Yingluck was, like her brother and elected party list PM. She went one better and appointed herself Defense Minister too.

Both were removed by the courts after breaking the law.

Hardly likely they will be back. Probably already grooming the next family clone puppet.

Your, fully entitled view, that the overview in question is rational is your opinion. Not a fact.

Tried and convicted of treason? No. Your post is nothing but sticking the boot in and you know it. Bring him back in chains, why? Would handcuffs and a guard detail be insufficient?

Agree. Thaksin should 'be sent to Coventry', and completely ignored. No news is good news.

unfortunately millions of Thais love him/her/them and no 'censoring' or writing them out of the history books (along with the Japanese etc.) is going to work longer term it just turns them into mythological hero's and heroine's

a Statesman the good General is not

Writing the Japanese out of the history books seems to have worked.

It seems to be an opinion widely held by many arms' length observers and has some logical substance - somewhat more so than a childish blanket accusation that it's a "red rant" simply because you don't understand it.

yea it never happened just like "there's no prostitution" etc. so now we have "there's no Thaksin" what's next? "no drugs"? "no gambling"? or maybe "no corruption"? if they start tackling the problems instead of "denying" them it would be a smart move

The irony of course is the the hypocritical general is clearly in conversation with Thaksin. He's part of what is going on right now - like it or not.

Absolutely. Pol. Captain Chalerm had clear reasons and justification in telling Thaksin profited from the coup. Maybe Thaksin even asked for it and contributed some Baht? Pressured his clone in pushing a 'blanket amnesty bill' through parliament to foment unrest? Have his relative the ex-MoFA ask the military to declare Martial Law. Things like that.

"there's no Thaksin" ... I wish.

"no drugs" ... didn't Thaksin deal with that already?

"no prostitution" ... she said she wasn't ... honest. ...

"no gambling" ... mustn't be. Every time the police raid a suspected gambling den, there's nothing there.

"no corruption" ... we were assured there was no corruption in the rice scheme. That's a start at least.

In all seriousness , the current PM is making Thaksin look a whole lot more acceptable than he could ever have managed to do himself.

There must be a lot of erstwhile PDRC supporters who are disappointed, surprised and embarrassed at the way things have turned out.
