JoeLing
Whatever Tony Blair hopes about the election in Thailand, it is not his business to make such suggestion. Let Thai people do whatever the best for them. Why are all the Western people putting pressures on the Thai government. Leave them alone. . Thai people have been doing what's the best for them a few since generations.
Pattaya28
Nobody cares what Tony Blair thinks. Except when it came to illegally attacking Iraq. The mind boggles at what they discussed.
japsportscarmad
You all should know that Tony is a flag ship for western democracy, he single handedly brought democracy to Iraq after ousting their nasty dictator. Tony Blairs stamp of approval on any Democratic government is a stamp of the highest order. Are you mad a stamp of the highest order
blaze
Busy body tony. Thai have democracy the thai way. Nothing to do with farang; especially British. Dude this guy is a tool yes,but he does not speak for me and most of the people in my country and to be completely honest with you most people in England could not give two shits or a toss about what the Thai people do in there own country. This it just some political bullshit How do you know what he speaks? Because the spin doc for the junta told you? Most people in your country do not even know against which nations their gov't exercises sanctions. But the people in those countries sure do!!! You actually be;lieve that Blair would come here so ill informed that a ten minute chat with the general could cause him to see the light- and not only that, encourage the general to keep on keepin' on? That the main problem that Blair seems to see in the coup is that it has not sold itself enough to the world? God man-- you are a sucker. This is shown as a green light to the people of Thailand that advanced western democracies will accept the current situation-- I don't believe that- do you? jWhen that old Christian Blaire stamps this mess with his approval- it is encouragement to the junta-- and that is how it's being fed. You accept this? Obviously you don't live in Thailand- we residents would like to know just what ACTUALLY was said in that tete a tete. It could affect our lives regardless of what 'most of the people in England' know. reading the posts on this thread- it's enough to make you think the whole world is too stupid to participate in politics. This is not about Blair- it is about the willingness of some supposedly educated westerners to differentiate between truth and fiction! blaze
Oh not this again. Democracy is very simple: the empowerment of each citizen to participate equally in the development of policies that will affect the nation. How that is achieved is of no great import-- it is not perfect-- but to suggest that a well meaning autochracy is simply a cultural varient on the notion of democracy-- well- you might as well say a snow shovel is a varient of a muffin. Busy body tony. Thai have democracy the thai way. Nothing to do with farang; especially British. There's only one Democracy, the Universal way or none at all, which ones yours? . Now don't be silly. You might have a "Direct Democracy" or a kind of "Representative Democracy"but there's no such thing as "Universal Democracy". Even within the Representative Democracies there are at least another 20 types of Indirect Democracies. I'm absolute sure, the democracy you grew up in, is a complete different kind of democracy, than the one I grew up with.

Thailand
Simply a photo opportunity for two seniors and a minor propaganda coup ( that word again) for the incumbent. No doubt mutual selfies for the album. I'm sure the general pointed out that the removal of certain, sorry reforms, will take much longer than originally promised because of elements! Don't mention the WMDs he really believed Sadam had them or if I was cynical he really believed it was good to get public opinion on his side as it appears everyone knew he never came close to having the long range rocket capability to hit anything more than a few camels (with respect to the Kurds who he did gas and murder) In my opinion Blairs a war criminal and should face court. Popular Post NongKhaiKid
When re-elected Tony B Liar said that politicians need to remember the public is their masters not the other way round. In justifying joining Boy George's invasion he said he knew the majority of the British public were against it but he also knew it was the right thing to do. He was nominated for Middle East Peace Envoy by the Americans as one of their ' thank you ' gestures for being the best PM of Britain that America ever had.

I'm not sure for the millionaire socialist the legacy he wanted is the legacy he will be remembered for :-) But perhaps at least we have the joy and can rejoice in the irony of his role as peace envoy to the Middle East. And, then they wonder why people are turning away from Main Street politics.

wellred
Busy body tony. Thai have democracy the thai way. Nothing to do with farang; especially British.. Why especially british? As has already been pointed out much of Thailand today is owed to the British. Truth is they need as much help as they can get otherwise as the Koh tao case has shown it turns into yet another national embarrassment.

phutoie2
Busy body tony. Thai have democracy the thai way. Nothing to do with farang; especially British. Thailand's entire Democratic system with the King as head of state, is copied from the British. The British set up Thailand's communication systems, railways, Post Office, the entire legal system etc etc. Thailand today has a LOT to do with the British and other farang. Would you rather Thailand was eating sushi and watching Sumo wrestlers? Well said, the Thai Police were modeled on the Brits, but maybe keep that one quiet. Thai Royal family have served in the British Army, though a long time ago. Lots of rich Thai kids are educated in the UK and they have been buying up London property for years. Plus the odd football club - Leicester City.

I dont care what you say about Tony Blair, or your racist comment about British people, but there is no democracy in Thailand right now, that is a fact. Even if you think you have "Thai style ,you farang you ,no understand, democracy". So find another name for what you want to call your system, but dont call it democracy.
