Hi guys,

I like a cold beer and have been drinking beer regularly for about 30 years.

This is my first post on TVF.

Tonight i bought 8 cans of beer and after opening my 5th can i noticed the beer tasted a bit off. I checked the expiry date and it's new stock and the same as the previous beers i drank tonight. Tonight i am drinking "Angkor". Last month i had the same problem with 3 cases of Tiger beer i bought in Thailand. Every 3rd or 4th can tasted like it was spoiled.

Do i have a problem with my taste buds? Or is there a problem with the consistency/quality of the beer?

The Tiger beer was bottled and the Angkor canned.

Is the problem with the beer or is the problem my taste buds?

Its a hugely subjective issue with a sample of just one member....but don't worry....we are all out to help you.....expect results to flow in strongly sometime in the morning.....

Or in the afternoon after they have risen from their pits :)

Aren't the miners still striking until they get parity with the badgers?

The only thing I can think of is that the beer has been overheated, at which point it sometimes develops a weird taste.

The distributor may not have a cooler in the truck..?

Sometimes i have a soapy taste when i am drinking from a can (Singha). Temperature is very important, beer of 10 degrees tastes different then when it's 4 degrees. And also the filling date counts, max abt 5 months depending how it was stored.

We could turn this into a beer expert thread to rival the wine one :-).

Got that right AW ^ cept for the taste of tiger.

Also sucks but good buzz.

(edit sorry you said tiger light, people drink light beer? defeats the purpose!)

QUESTION Is it a bad idea to mix brands them when drinking or should it not matter?

I am starting to think bad idea.

You never know exactly what is in them or the water.

I know what you mean about the lite beer , but the taste is better and the morning after as well.

I can drink unlimited amounts of Belgium beers without feeling sick or having a hangover.

Thai beers give me a headache after 2 cans/glasses. If i drink more of it i sure will get a terrible headache so i stopped drinking at all.

Now i guess it is because i should drink more water during the day or do less work that makes me sweat...I lost 10 kg since i stopped drinking.

Changing the temperature of beer is the best way to get skanky beer. Meaning, taking it out of a temperature controlled environment, transporting it on an open wagon and re-cooling.

For instance, your beer leaves the brewery and travels north to your local shop on an open truck, in the morning, the sun would be on the left hand side of the slabs (inside cans would obviously be more protected). If travelling south, reverse the direction of the sun..............rolleyes.gif

Arrives at your local shop and is left standing until you purchase it and stick it in the fridge ready for a couple of sun-downers later on. Damage already done.

Of course, it could also be rat piss on the cans or bottles. Better having the odd skanky beer though IMHO....................wink.png

Good Reply. I am especially careful about the rat piss and wash the cans.

Yes it could be the cans on the outside of the slab that are getting overly cooked.

Or maybe it's just you. Happens to me too sometimes. Sometimes I just drink half of a beer and I can't drink more, it just doesn't taste right. And another night I can drink 10 beers.
