NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Nov 10 -- Heavy downpours continue in several southern provinces while authorities here will declare the province a disaster zone after floodwater flowed into the city suburbs before dawn Sunday.

Nakhon Si Thammarat Disaster Prevention and Mitigation chief Jesada Wattanurak said a low-pressure weather system had moved from the province heading toward the Andaman Sea. The heavy rainfall here should recede within one or two days.

He expressed concern at the volume of floodwater in Lan Saka district arriving at the provincial seat before dawn Sunday.

Twenty 20 pumps were installed in 17 provincial seat locations while municipal workers are draining floodwater into the sea.

Meanwhile, more than 500 long-tailed boats in Krabi province serving tourist islands anchored along beaches and at Ko Phi Phi after being warned that a strong low-pressure system covering the lower part of the Gulf of Thailand would arrive Krabi later Sunday bringing a heavy downpour and strong winds.

Krabi auhoritie hoisted red flags at several beaches, warning against swimming due to high waves.

The Meteorological Department earlier warned of the low-pressure system. (MCOT online news)

Fabulous weather here in Pattaya! I have been on the beach all afternoon sunbathing on the rocks with some " cool tunes " not a cloud in the sky and with a gentle breeze ... " fabulous " F.J x

Happens every year, makes the news every year. coffee1.gif

Indeed, and if it didn't the headlines would be bewailing a drought.

I have never really understood what is so fabulous about sunny skies. It is boring, and it is hot. Clouds, storms, rain, wind, now that is great weather. Guess I spent too many years in Los Angeles, which has some of the flattest, more boring weather in the world. My friends would always say what a beautiful day it was, and I would ask why? Because it is sunny?

I love the sunshine and the " outdoor lifestyle " that Thailand offers! (and 20 years living in the Canary islands before) Nice long 15 km daily walks in the morning sun followed by afternoons on the beach.... Love it!

What have your walks or lack of clouds over Pattaya Beach got to do with southern Thailand? sad.png
