NO FLATULENCE - Skippy saves Thailand

Thailand, in many parts is vulnerable to rising to Global Warming and rising Sea Sea Levels.

Bangkok, the most populous City in Thailand floods when the conditions are wrong, drains back up because they can't empty into the Sea. Same with the Drainage Canals.

Now, if you are a true believer, Global Warming, thus the rising Sea Levels are caused, in part by the rising methane levels.

One of the biggest causes ... the humble cow ... facepalm.gif

Beef loving Scientists around the world are try to discover an answer to this problem.

Enter the humble Aussie Kangaroo*.

Most animals fart, kangaroos simply don’t. Makes for an amazing piece of dinner party conversation, eh? I was fascinated by this and just had to investigate further.

Kangaroos and cows have similar diets. So, what’s different about kangaroos that prevents them from farting? It’s down to the different bacteria that exist in the roo’s stomach.

In cows and other cud chewing livestock, feed fermenting in the stomach creates hydrogen, which can prevent the fermentation and digestion from proceeding. In the case of these animals, nature gets around it by employing the use of bacteria, which then create methane. In Kangaroos, the bacteria instead create acetate, which aids digestion.

For a few years now, scientist have been working on isolating these bacteria in the hope of introducing them to cattle. Aside from the methane reduction, they also believe by achieving this, livestock could gain 10 and 15% more energy from the same amount of feed.

Green Living Tips

BTW ... Roo meat is quite palatable.

In Australia freely available in our version of TESCO.

Hop along now Skippy ...

So are you suggesting kangaroo farming?

Khon Kaen might be the place for that

Why this statement David?

Are you afraid I will grass you up to the Milkers trade union?

Thought Mr Neverdie posted your equity card last week.

But thank you for opening new horizons for me.

Never thought of kangaroos before.................

Now forget the farting and tell me do they produce a lot of milk?

Are they easy to milk them?

Please, let me know soon......I'm waiting with soooooooo much anticipation.

If they go to the pub, it's OK with me but if they are locked as "complete Trolls" then I get my knickers in a twist.w00t.gif

Herd of 90 flatulent cows causes barn to EXPLODE after gas build-up

I was watching Qi tonight ... the one with Stephen Fry as the host ... <deleted> funny show.

It came up as a question on the quiz.

A little research validated the facts.

I know that the Farm where I live in Thailand is in the range of +1 <-> +2 metres above sea level.

It's a serious issue for the Bangkok flood plain.

Oh, they're easy enough to milk. The hard part is climbing into that front pouch to do the milking. And then trying to escape afterwards.

Can they also be used as plate compactors in construction.............I mean at the end of the day after youve compacted your soil Skippy could hop in the pan.

I rather fancy keeping Ostriches........

I rather fancy keeping Ostriches........

the meat is great to eat, but in real life ostriches are rather like many TV posters, inherently angry, they can be really nasty b *stards

I had a buddy who was vet and he had a juvenile male on his small holding someone had brought in, the family dog was sh *t scared of it,

it used chase/bite and try kicking anything that moved including car's....this ostrich had real f ing mental issues...laugh.png

in the end my buddy told me he had give away to a game farm, in reality I suspect we ate the little F er at the BBQ that day...biggrin.png

Dead Roos fart, especially when you drive your ute into their bloating carcasses ;)

Costas so many animals, so little time?

And there is the little Roo pouch to be investigated too. Go for it, Costas!

Cows are in horrific conditions.

Animal abuse is in every industrial farm.

60 billions animals are killed in atrocious conditions each year to get us heart disease, cancers, chronic diseases, diabetes.

Just stop.

Thanks for that David.

Knew all about the Cows but now my wife wants to know why, as an Australian, I do NOT have the same type of Gut as a Kangaroo.

Cheers!!

Certainly the living conditions of animals on factory farms are horrendous; however, meat is not the sole source of the diseases that you mentioned.

Your post was obviously written "tongue in cheek" but you do pose an interesting subject David. Why not farm kangaroo in Thailand? Australia isn't interested and Thailand has the perfect climate.

Easy to manage, but hard to catch and tend to punch back when trying to dispatch them, thats why they are shot from a distance and not killed like cattle the muslims would have a hard job doing it halal style with those big back leg claws tearing at their bellies, would need some pretty high fences as well, but if it takes off put me down as a customer roo meat is so good for you low in fat and cholesterol and tastes great

No one has ever figured out how to transport live kangaroos which is the reason why the meat is not as popular as it should be.

Give them sleeping tablets like xanax and then slaughter them on arrival ?

Mate, the money to be made is not in the Farming, but in isolating the specific gut enzymes of the Rooo and introducing them into Beef Cattle and Dairy Cows and the like to reduce the level of methane gases produced.

You would market and patent them and sell them in Europe, the States, Canada, Brazil and Australia.
