Education Ministry promotes students to go online constructively

The Ministry of Education has set up a project to promote students to surf the internet constructively and protect them from inappropriate websites.

Mrs. Jaruayporn Thoranin, the Education Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, said this project will be beneficial for children’s studies, as they would be able to gain optimum knowledge from the online world. By the end of next year, the project is expected to be implemented in about 40,000 schools nationwide.

These education institutions will also be using software to prevent people from visiting inappropriate websites such as the ones that promote pornography, wrong social values and violence.

The project is being implemented in 200 schools during the initial stage.

About 1,000 guardians of students have been invited to join this activity so their children would be able to surf the internet more beneficially for themselves, instead of just playing online games.

"Wrong social values," sounds like the kids need protection from the ministry rather than the net. Another opportunity of the all wise and all knowing ministry to impose it's moral and social values on everyone else.

I am not too worried about this. Kids have managed to get the "wrong social values" since the beginning of time. With or without the internet they'll find a way.

I think the Ministry will be very busy trying to stay one step ahead of these "negative" sites and wylie youths.
