What are the latest news about the government health insurance for non-Thais?

My local hospital tells me that the Health Ministry has abolished the old scheme of 2800 Baht per year by 30 October.

Any clue what is in the pipeline?

Sure they can't keep this for long as there are many foreign workers here who can't pay their bills.

That scheme was meant for foreign labourers, like the Burmese working here, not for westerners (or easterners like the Japanese, Koreans)..
