I know I know I shouldn't be so damned careless.

Maybe something else in my bag jammed awkwardly into my (UK) passport. Right on the page with my 90 day extension on it slightly tearing the page away from the rest of the book and crumpling it. The rest of the pages also have been folded at the corners so it does look like just stress from something but I know if I went to immigration tomorrow I'd be probably locked up for them thinking I was tampering with the page....

My next report isn't until the end of Jan so there is plenty of time. I will call the embassy tomorrow and if needs be I can go there next week. I am just wondering if anyone else here has had this problem? What is the procedure? I am really, REALLY hoping it is not a new passport as that is going to be an absolute ball ache. This passport is fairly new still with loads of pages left free in it.

The dream scenario would be some sort of official letter from the embassy saying that I have been there and they are happy that there has been no foul play and I sellotape the page back in fully and take the signed letter with me next time I go to immigration. That sounds way to simple though...

Help me TVF!

As long as they can reconstruct the page, and the security features are intact, I dont think you need to worry..

If however you are presenting something that is totally detached from the passport then you might have a problem..

Who is they though? The embassy?

The page is still very much in the passport, just some slight tearing near the top. Actually quite ridiculous how easy they can come out.

I don't know who he means can reconstruct a passport page.

It sounds like just minor bit of damage to the passport. I would not worry about it being a problem. I am sure immigration has seen worse.

Thing is I am on the ED visa and I got the absolute 3rd degree last time I was there and just about scraped through to get my 90 days. I don't know if they have that on file but I am very fearful of them thinking I have been tampering with the page.

I spoke to the consulate and they said go to the embassy to let them look at the passport and see what they say. Maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill but I am shook up because of the treatment I got last time at CW immigration.

Whatever the Embassy says doesn't mean a whole lot as it is the Thai immigration officer that will have the final decision on whether the passport/visa is still valid. The Embassy can say "no problem" and immigration can say "no good"! Much like being between a rock and a hard place!.

It might be helpful if the OP could attach a scan of the damaged page containing the 90-day extension - assuming, of course, that neither it nor the adjoining page contained any personal details.

Can do, one moment.

It only appears to be the top half of the page containing the 90-day extension that has become detached - and that the contents of that page are still perfectly legible if now rather scrunched up!

So I would have thought a problem to be unlikely in this instance.

However, you will, of course, need to take especial care of your passport from now on for the remainder of its life. Depending on its expiry date (or how full it is), therefore, it might be worth your while investing in a robust plastic translucent cover to enclose it in.

Sellotape it back in and explain in perfect Thai what happened and wrap it in a cocoon of protectiveness is the plan. I'll still go to the embassy as I have time to. Fingers crossed!
