NRC updated U.S. charge d'affaires on Thailand's reform

BANGKOK, 21 November 2014 (NNT) - The National Reform Council president and his two deputies discussed Thailand’s political development with the U.S. charge d’affaires during an official meeting.

NRC President Tienchai Kirananda along with his deputies, Borwornsak Uwanno and Tassana Boontong, on Thursday, received W. Patrick Murphy, the charge d’affaires ad interim at U.S. Mission Thailand.

Mr. Murphy paid his visit to the NRC, after recently assuming the role of the charge d’affaires, to introduce himself and discuss the mission of the reform council.

Mr. Tienchai updated Mr. Murphy about the council’s ongoing efforts to compile ideas and opinions from both politicians and the public about the reform process and the new Constitution.

Meanwhile, Mr. Borwornsak, who is also the chairman of the Constitutional Drafting Committee, told Mr. Murphy that the next general election will likely be held by March 2016.

At the meeting, the U.S. charge d’affaires also expressed his hopes that Thailand will stay on course of its reform roadmap and that democracy will be restored as soon as possible.

".............general election will likely be held by March 2016."

Even though I do not agree what has happened with coup ect , I think that is a more realistic date if they are to achieve anything

Seems like the bigger players in world politics are starting to ramp up the pressure on the Thai Regime.
