Dirt Bike Shop / Market place ?

Hard to find something online, but Mocyc has a few old ones for sale and KTM sell new ones (245 K for a 85 ccm).

There must be a shop out there that specialize in motocross !

Yamaha in Phuket had 2 dirt bikes 250 and 450 (I think) - all looks random and not much choice.

I am looking for 2 stroke - 85 ccm or 125 ccm and fairly new if not new.

The KTM prices is a bit steep though.

I have send Yamaha Phuket a mail about these bikes

Do you know a good place anywhere in Yhailand ?

Thanks for any input

I think the big problem with secondhand dirt bikes is the wear rate, my guess is about times 10 that of a road bike, I have seen and ridden 3 now, one 6 month old Kawasaki hire bike and two Chinese bikes and they were all well worn, with gearbox problems, forks, wheel bearings, not to mention the less important ancillaries and generally, well not tight any more.

I did see an immaculate CRF I was tempted by at 100k which hadn't actually been off road, so that was the exception, but I personally wouldn't go down the secondhand route.

At 130k a brand new CRF has to be the best option, unfortunately out of my price range right now, or of course the 46k Lifan, which I am in two minds about.

First do you look for a real dirtbike, MX aka motocross bike or do you want to do some off-road exploring and have some fun off-road. I ask this because motocross motorcycles are pretty expensive they sell (250cc) for around 300,000 to 360,000 THB. I was told you can also buy a 150cc KTM for about the same price. But I do not know of any official imported 125cc MX/motocross motorcycles.

Kawasaki sells the KX250F, Honda sells the CRF250R, Yamaha sells the YZ250F, and if correctly Suzuki sells the RMZ250. But as I said prices are between 300,000 to 360,000 THB. This motorcycles cannot be registered and are not road legal...

Many amateur/weekend fun off-road riders in Thailand therefore buy a Honda CRF250L or a Kawasaki KLX250 and modify it for more off-road use.

For smaller “real” off-road motorcycles you can look at the Kawasaki KLX140L or a GPX 125 or 140 Both the Kawasaki or the GPX bikes are road legal, and cannot be registered. I had once a GPX ZF250 (what is also a off-road orientated motorcycle) and I was very happy with it.

unless you're racing stay away from race type mx bikes. No battery = kick start no fans = overheating and limited gas tank.

Sorry Yankee99, I think the problem of over heating will not apply for any real MX/motocross bikes, they're build to withstand twice the abuse the best motocross riders in the world can give them... at 50º Celsius for hours... and I will bet that nobody in Thailand would be able to kill a properly prepared motocross motorcycle ....

Yes, real motocross motocross motorcycles need more attention and way more service, which Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, or Suzuki do not offer... So if you buy a “real” motocross bike you should know what you get into...

What brings me to, why some second hand motocross bikes so cheap in Thailand? They probably cost more to fix than they worth, service and knowledgeable mechanics is key for maintaining a “real” motocross motorcycle... I have see secondhand motocross motorcycles that were serviced like they where a regular road bike and they basically damaged beyond repair....

So be very careful if you want to buy a secondhand MX/motocross motorcycle.... I would advice against buying used MX/motocross bikes.....

2nd hand MX bikes cheap ?

Where do you find them ? - besides some random old crap around !

I am looking for MX bike Japan brand hardcore 2 stroke 85 cc or 125 cc.

2nd hand but onlt slightly used and 1 or 2 years old - no issue for me as I can fix it.

No copy or modified crf or something else.

I am going dealer way if there is no specialist MX shop in LOS.

Maybe a future business ?
