30 day visa for a 3 month plane ticket?

Featured Replies

Hello from Portland Oregon. Traveling abroad for my first time. I purchased my round trip plane ticket from dec 2nd to feb 28th. I didn't know that to get an extendable 60 day visa, I had to apply in advance at a local thai embassy. So when I arrive and they see that my ticket is for 3 months, what should I tell them? I am open to leaving and staying as long as nessisary in a neighboring nation. Thanks in advance... Matt

You problem may well be that the airline won't let you fly. As there is a Thai consulate in Portland why not just go an get a visa?

Contact the local Thai consuate in Portland and apply for a tourist visa.

Without a tourist visa the airline might not let you board as for a stay of longer than 30 days you need a visa.

Yeah, from what I read you need at least 30 days to get a thai visa and I have 5 days from tonight and then there’s thanksgiving and then the weekend so that would give them one day to approve it assuming I actually bring them all the info they need. So I'll try to board on Tuesday. If they say no then I go home I guess.

If you went on Friday you would have your visa on Monday or maybe on Friday. Contact the consulate.

There is certainly no 30 day wait to get your visa anywhere in the US.

From the website......Step 5: Mail your application to us or bring it in person for while-you wait service.

I doubt they make you wait there 30 days.

But seems they are not open Friday's so will have to be Monday morning.

ok sounds good. if I cant get it that day, then maybe Delta will let me change my return flight for within 30 days for a fee or something...thanks for the advice. Late's better than never I guess.

If you can't get the visa then you could get a one way ticket to a nearby country on a low cost airline (check airasia.com) to show as an onward ticket.

OK I will probably do that. I guess I would have to stay fora month in that neighbouring country or buy multiples I dont know but sounds like im getting closer. I iwll try mon morning...
