Frost happens at Angkhang Station in Chiang Mai for 2 consecutive mornings

CHIANG MAI: -- Frost happened at the Angkhang Station of the Royal Project Foundation in Chiang Mai's Fang district for two consecutive mornings Saturday and Sunday.

The mercury at the Angkhang Station dropped to 3 Celsius degree Sunday morning while the grass minimum temperature on the mountaintop of the station was recorded at minus 0.5 Celsius degree.

Official temperature readings are taken at 2 meters (6 1/2 feet) above ground level. So the 3C (37F) was at the 2 meter level.

And at an inch it was 0.5C (31F). As one can see there is a 2.5C (6F) difference in just that small a height change. That is on what is called macro-scale. Cold enough to snow but they had to settle for frost, which for Thailand is close enough. Oh, the wonders of weather. thumbsup.gif
