Hi everybody,I am currently staying on a triple entry tourist visa (issued from the uk) I have used up all my entries now & permission to stay ends on the 3rd dec (this Wednesday).I would like to ask what would be my best options please as I have decided I would like to stay here longer.up to 6months longer if possible

should I get a 30 day extension & then at the end of december go to say laos and apply for a double entry tourist visa there or can I go to my local immigration now & get an extension for longer than 30 days please?

Im in hua hin if that makes any difference.

Many thanks for any advice given

You should get the 30 day extension. There is no reason not to,

Just be sure you go out for the 2 entry visa before the 31st of December because January 5th would be the earliest you could apply after that.

Based on the fact that I am in hua hin, where would be the best place for me to apply for a 2 entry tourist visa please?

I have heard that savanakhet is the best,i have also been told that kanchanaburi now has a new border crossing open,do you know if I can apply for new tourist visa in Burma now?

im looking for the easiest option for obtaining new visa

Either Vientiane or Savannakhet would be the same travel wise. Savannakhet does the visa on the same day you apply,

Penang does single entry visas.

It would be a long trip from the border to Yangon plus you would have to get a visa from the Myanmar embassy in Bangkok to make the trip there.

ok thankyou,so I have decided to get a 30 day extension on my tourist visa & then I will go to savannakhet towards the end of dec for a new 2 entry tourist visa.

my next problem now is that there is only one bus that goes from hua hin to mukdahan, this willarrive at mukdahan at 9:35 am.has anybody done this journey from hua hin please? I am thinking that this will not give me enough time to get to the embassy at savannakhet & submit my visa application before 11am.

If anybody has done this route before please could you tell me if it gave you enough time please or if anyone has any other suggestions on how to to get there,I would much appreciate it

many thanks in advance

I would say 9:35 is to late.

It might be best to get a bus from Mochit in Bangkok that would get you there by 8 am or so. You could get a bus or van from Hua Hin to Mochit to connect with that bus.

You must remember you will be getting into New Years holiday time when a lot of people will be traveling. I think Christmas week would be best. Verses the week after.

I live in Hua Hin and back in October I went to Vientiane. I found it was best for me to go to Bangkok and then fly directly in to Vientiane. If not you could always fly from Don muang to Udon and then take a bus which takes around 45 minutes to the border and then another 30 minutes to Vientiane.

I was going to ask something very closely related to your situation here but I will make a new thread instead of hijacking this one. All the best. Just to add, the Thai roads are ultra dangerous around the time you are intending to travel, plus the plane flight takes a lot of time out of the equation and it is a lot more comfortable.

Take the advice and fly OP, if you can. Otherwise given the bus timings from HH to Murkdahan then I recommend that you head into BKK and take a bus from Mochit departing no later than 10PM at night. Those buses will generally drop you off in Mukdahan with enough time to bolt accross the border and get your Visa request in before 11am. But as I said, 10pm no later and that is cutting it rather close.

EDIT: What is Hua Hin to Korat like... if you can arrange to hit the buses up in Korat might be another option.
