O Extension Marriage - when can I get at MY monee?!

Featured Replies

After the dread scrutinity of the dark overlords, when can I get at my money? The day of the first meeting or day I finally get the one year TEMPORARY stay visa for being married to a Thai national?

Thanks

I would advise you to withdraw after you get the approval cq final stamp in your passport to avoid complications

I suggest you wait until you get the extension stamp after the 30 days.

Some offices do check to see if it is still there during the approval process.

Menchen, just what money are your referring to. Happy to advise, if I know the details.

He is asking about the 400.000 THB which have to be in a Thai Bank account for 2 months when applying for an extension of stay based on marriage.

The 400K baht he needs in a Thai bank to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

Okay, you always have access to any monies you deposit at any time you wish. If you have received your new 1 year visa (not extension - new) then go and withdraw whatever funds you need. The fundamentals are that you have enough money to convince the authorities that you have enough income to subsist/live in Amazing Thailand.

When you apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage you go on a under consideration period while your extension is being approved by the immigration division headquarters for the region where you live. During that period they can check that the 400k is sill in the bank. There have been reports of them being denied because the money was taken out before approval was granted,

better not to touch at all and leave it there seasoned all year

just an example ... you lose your passport ... you think you will get a new FREE stamp ??? i think it is : doing the procedure all over again

If you loose your passport they can reinstate you extension into your new one. There is no need to start all over again.

Only visas from an embassy or consulate are lost with a passport.

Such a great question.

Pity the answer has to be clouded with wrong info.

IMO, better to remove blatant wrong answers and say why...

Oh, and delete the off topic posts too....

Good question and good answer without the need for "Interpretation"

Just sayin...

Ditto. Could of closed the thread at post #3.

IMHO one should be able to go below the 400K once you have applied for the extension even though it is still under consideration for 30 days since at the time of application the funds have been in the account for 2 months, hence this requirement has been met. Though it may certainly be wise not to withdraw the whole amount at once but if you start spending some to meet your monthly expenses there should not be a problem. Besides, I have never been asked to show my bank book again when I got the extension of stay stamped into my passport after 30 days.
