December 1, 201411 yr I'm looking for Under kitchen cabinet lights. The new kitchen has 220 v electrical supply boxes on the walls, under where the top cabinets will be mounted, that are controlled by a light switch. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to buy? Lighting rating? What's worked for you? Thanks
December 1, 201411 yr The major outlets do some very slim T5 fluorescent fittings, the tubes are only 16mm in diameter and the fitting itself extremely slim. Available in 14Watt (549mm long) and 35Watt (1463mm long) and various colours. These should hide nicely behind the architrave on your units. LED strips are an alternative and should also be dimmable, but are less easy to find (try the specialist lighting stores). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
December 2, 201411 yr Are you fitting the lights to the underside of the hanging cabinets so the light shines down on the counter tops? If so keep in mind that the lights will produce some heat and the base of the hanging cabinet will get warm. Putting a strip of foam backed metallic reflecting stuff between the light and the base of the cabinet will reflect most of the heat - and light.
