Visa extension on a weekend. Can I go day after or must I go before?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Am looking to add a 30 days extension to a tourist visa on 7th, a Sunday. Obviously, the office is closed

Can I go on the Monday 8th, the nearest day or do i need to go on the Friday before (5th) and given that is it the King's bridthday, do I actually need to go on the Thursday (4th)?

Many thanks for your help

Dan

As I understand it any extension is dated from the end of the visa being extended, so you can go early.

You can do it tomorrow or Thursday. You loose nothing by doing it early because the extension starts when your 60 days end.

You can do it on Monday since your permit to stay ends on Sunday and not pay an overstay fine. After Monday you will pay a fine of 500 baht a day.

Thank you very much.

Am not bothered about losing days, just the overstay bit, which Joe has answered. Monday will not be a problem, it seems biggrin.png

If I understand things correctly, though, my partner who is out of sync with me (not due for another 2 weeks) could also extend on Monday to no detriment. We ultimately want to be heading out the country after this extension on the same day (around 6th January, I guess if 8th Dec is when we extend) in order to come straight back in on our 2nd entry (we have a triple and a double entry touist visas). She has no problem in losing days as she is flying back to UK 20th March, which the 2nd part of the touirst visa and another 30 day extension will cover.

That sounds doable, doesn't it?

Your partner can do it at the same time you do yours.

To save a little time you can download and print out (two sided) the TM7 application form complete it and attach a 4cm X 6cm photo. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm7.pdf

Make copies of you passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card.
