Why can't Thailand learn from their mistakes?

The current incumbents may well think it is a good idea as what they did to gain power was not exactly kosher now was it?

So where are Abs and Suit? Amnesty was enough to march in the streets and do the hokey pokey let's have a coup when PT was proposing amnesty. So came the coup, and the amnesty idea is being rolled out. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattening.....a political party, that is.

Abhisit supported an amnesty for ordinary protesters before the protests started. It was the inclusion of the leaders and particularly Thaksin's corruption cases that everyone objected to.

I think it has not much to do with reconciliation. I guess both sides need an amnesty, for what we already know, and probably for what we don't know yet. There are surely skeletons in the closet on both sides....
