When I go to get my re-entry stamp can I ask that they put in a certain location in my passport?

Basically I have two and a half pages left, would like them to use the halfpage open for the re-entry stamp so that I have two pages empty for NY's trip in and out of Malaysia, then in and out of Philippines, headed to Boracay via KL for NY's.

Possible to request?

Immigration is normally pretty good at trying to save space in a passport.

I have seen several scans of the re-entry permit stamp done cross ways under an extension stamp.

on arrival at sadao entry point from Malaysia several years ago i had 1 page left and asked the officer if he could stamp in 1 corner, he turned the stamp on its side in a diagonal position and stamped dead centre of the page

Never had a problem with that in any country in the world.... Make your request clear before you hand over the passport, politely explaining you are running out of room and any immigration officer should be more than happy to do it!

I find most try to put the stamps beside in the same location as the exit stamp from the prior country -- it tends to make their jobs easier. The only country that I found randomly scattered the stamps was the US....

I had an incident last time I came through Immigration, as usual I always check the stamp before I walk away from the booth, just in case. This time I could not find the stamp since it is usually on the page opposite from my O-A Multiple Visa. I handed it back to the pleasant lady officer and politely asked if she could show me where it was

Turns out, to save me some space, she placed it on the page opposite an old O-A Visa (2011) hopefully I can get the outbound Immigration officer to place the exit stamp on the same page, otherwise, I will have only an exit stamp on the page opposite the current visa

I thanked her for saving me some space so they are aware of the problem but this time I didn't really gain anything, even if I get the outbound officer to stamp on the same page, since next year the entry stamp will have to go on the page opposite the visa anyway

So in answer to the OP's question, yes you can request it but ask politely with a smile, just don't demand it

if you only have 2 pages left i suggest you apply for a new passport very quickly as when your passport is full you are going to be in big trouble if you need to leave thailand for another visa etc

Sure Alan, I am a little concerned about this and will take care of it in the new year, but for now I have 2.5 pages.

My thinking and reason for post: the .5 page for my re-entry permit, one full page for in-out stamps Malaysia and PI, their stamps are quite small I have a few already, then a full page when I come back into Thailand.

Your point definitely not lost on me though thumbsup.gif

Thanks for posting, I had similar thoughts, but still enough space (and at the rate I travel, passport will last almost the 10 years it is valid).

In my passport, stamps (Thailand and neighboring countries for visa runs) are rather haphazard, they turn over a new page even if space is left on a previous page.

Get a Thai to write a very short note politely requesting that the Immigration Officer stamps the passport with economical use of space. Hand it over with your passport.
