Tourist Visa Application - Return Flight Requirement...but Planning on Extending

Featured Replies

How does it work when you apply for a 60 day Tourist Visa and you plan on extending for 30 days WHEN you are required to provide airline booking information for a return flight but you plan on extending for 30 days when you are in Thailand? I am assuming the return flight would have to be shown within the 60 day tourist visa period...?

Can someone that has gone through this procedure first hand, recently, please advise. Thank You.

Whether you need tickets or not depends on where you apply for the visa.

Some will allow 90 days to allow for the extension.

It does not always need to be a return ticket. You could get a one way ticket to a nearby country to show if needed.

I thought I read before on TV that if you have any type of visa, you don't need an outbound ticket?

My reply was to a question about applying for a tourist visa. It was not about entry to the country.

i always used to buy open ended ticket.

Sorry, my misunderstanding. So it's only that you may need a return ticket (or maybe not depending on where you apply) which you show the embassy/consulate when you apply for a tourist visa. Why can't you apply for a tourist visa before buying a ticket? Seems a bit strange but maybe it's just the way it is.
