XP Leftovers From Previous Program Make It Impossible To Upgrade To MS Office 2013?

Hello and Sawsdee khrap,

Had three days fighting with weird computer problems, but could finally fix it through "Gregory's" cool advice.thumbsup.gif

Now I headed to the next and hopefully last problem I've got to solve. I've got a 5 year old DELL Inspiron 1440, that came with XP, when I bought it.

A computer shop finally put a Windows 7 Ultimate on my machine, as there's still warranty on the HD, when it died. I did not realize that there's something wrong and when my HD died again, after only six month, I just cloned my HD, which is divided into three partitions, took 20 minutes and all was back as it was before.

Now I've tried it quite a few times to put MS office 2013 on it. The set up starts, but then it sows me that I should at least have Windows 7, which I do, or the Microsoft Server 2008 R 2.

I remember one time that the system detected something like an XP program, but I've got no idea what finally prevents MS office.

I've even downloaded a Microsoft 2008 R 2 server and installed it. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, the 32 bit version on my machine.

Any input would be deeply appreciated and honored with a certificate your choice.

Oh damn, it's Monday and my co teacher's sick. Which means I have to cover her lessons. Oh my Buddha.

Thanks a lot in advance. wai2.gifcoffee1.gif

The clue may be in the part highlighted above: is your Win 7 genuine?

It is as genuine as a Thai computer shop can be. Let's put it this way, it's activated, got all my updates, but some leftovers of my old XP seem to be somewhere.

Okay, let's put it this way. At least did not I make anything illegal. Or is it illegal by now to go to a computer shop and pay for a program set up?

Should I report the computer shops, my school, friends, son, wife and myself to the NCFPO?

" Those who're without any mistakes are allowed to throw the first stone."

Why do I get the message that I need at least Windows 7, or Microsoft 2008 R 2 Server?

Same MS office was installed by me on the school computer, got the MS office 2013 installation CD from my assistant director. And this PC runs a not genuine version, but no problems with the set up.

Plain and simple. You're dealing with illegal copies! That's why you're getting the message to install Windows 7. You're not going to get help on a public forum here. It's against the rules! Your Windows may show as being Genuine but you have hacks to circumvent WAT (Windows Activation Technology). Hench you get the message to install Windows.

If I recall you made a previous post advertising your expertise in successfully dealing with illegal copies. I suggest you take yourself up on your own offer.
