I can only imagine what that detail work would have cost in the US. Here.....I have my truck pimped every month for about of what a standard automatic car wash would cost in Texas.

Got a neighbor's CRT TV repaired.....full of dust and bad soldering......the repairman diagnosed the bad spot and went on to resolder all the bad joints. Cost me about 200 baht.

Get my lawnmower and other tools periodically welded (repaired) for about 20 baht a weld......on the spot. In the US, you'd trash the lawnmower and buy a new one.

I get my truck pimped every month for 180 baht......inside and out, including underneath. An automatic-car-wash costs about $8 in the US for the basic wash. That doesn't include interior or armorall.

Very surprised the vet did not hold the dog until it was reasonably recovered from his anesthesia, it is also a good thing he urinated, maybe not all over your car but being able to urinate is one of the things you're supposed to be looking out for post OP for that procedure. Glad to hear your truck is recovering well too. FYI poor doggy had very little control over his faculties after coming out of anesthesia so better you showed a bit of compassion and didn't euthanize him for his unfortunate lack of control.

Oh now come on, surely you know by now from reading numerous posts on here that all Thais are completely useless and can do nothing right, these must have been Burmese, Cambodian, Eskimos or possibly from Mars.

Or could it be that those who post such things just have no clue what they are writing about.

From my own experience I go for the latter.

I suspect from now on the dog will ride in the back.

But hay, did you consider it may have been his revenge for what you did to him.

Certainly one does get lucky once in a while..

All very nice but just hang on a moment....

Have you never heard warnings about leaving Children or Animals in Cars?

In some places, you could be facing a very hefty fine and possible Jail time for being so cruel to an animal.

No not only do they "try" to fix it its normally temporary and then they do it again and again and again and again as they have little to no knowledge or tools to do said fix.

The fix is normally the result of bad work practice right from the get go.

I fortunately avoid most of this as I learnt a long time ago the only way to do it properly is to do EVERYTHING yourself.

The next problem I used to have was if you did call someone the damage they left behind was far greater than that which they attempted to fix.

So no, overall I found their ability laughable and thats being polite.

For anyone who might be paying attention.

BTW I have several detailing nightmare stories I could share but I really couldn't be bothered it's all been heard before, so no point really since it'd just be ignored or shouted down anyway. One of them though centered around me re-installing the drivers seat and just taking my car home in pieces after 2 days of virtually nothing getting cleaned only disassembled and basically wet down, gone over with a wet cloth and told "cannot clean". I took it home and cleaned it myself using the same amount of time, the proper cleaners and methods and the car looked virtually brand new once I was done. I was only one person so it took me a lot longer but if 2 or 3 did the job they should have had it done in just a few hours, not 2 days later with no result whatsoever. Good the OP got his handled but his case is far more the rare one then the usual.

I did roll down the windows half way on both sides, but I understand that your concerns are well-founded.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yeah it is a good point as anesthesia is already known for overheating the body without any help. Very lucky indeed as double jeopardy where animals are concerned. Especially since being under he can not pant either.

Yes, there he is, the guy trying to spoil a positive thread with some Thai bashing. Took a while though.

Ok lets hear your "happy Thais fixed it stories"

I can tell you about 30 stories all ending in cock ups, if you want the photos let me know.......... my Wife is responsible for taking care of over 80 condos and over 8 years, there has only been one bloke able to work moderately well.

The rest have a wealth of no idea...sounds familiar

Would it help you if my Wife posted the stories?? she is Thai she gets this weekly.

When it breaks now I invariably get the job of sorting it out if Im in Bangkok ( which im not often)

The last example is a pane of glass fitted in LE LUK Condo Sukhumvit Road, the condo has full width glass across the room ( stupid design) room gets red hot.

The original glass broke due to to the heat and bad fitting during construction no thermal expansion, also bad glass choice.

So the "specialist" company arrived, approved by the insurers, they measure and then a few weeks later appear with the glass, laminated, its the wrong size ( they measured it) on top of that its also black, the wrong colour.

The guy doing it comes alone, its on the 15th floor the piece is at least 5 feet by 4 feet, needs minimum of 2 people. He abseils down the side of the building on a rope ( one rope no safety harness).

Then he realises its going to be almost impossible to do it alone.

He did all this before finding it was the wrong size or even noticing the wrong colour

Off he goes half the day wasted with my Wife being there to let him in, no date given for return.

I expect when it does get done it will probably leak like a sieve and require "yet another " fix.

She also has aircon problems often due to crap work they come again and again and again, everytime leaving the walls covered in hand prints and dirty marks.

Of course Im sure you are also getting workmen in on a weekly basis and Im happy if you can just pass me their info and Ill forward it to my wife so shell know who to use?

I'm sure every property manager on the planet can come up with horror stories of repairs gone wrong.

But if you're telling me that in your capacity as a property manager you've been unable to attract and retain a reliable roster of contractors to service your properties, I have to wonder if this isn't more of a management problem than a contractor problem.

After all, aren't most of the commercial properties in Bangkok well maintained? They certainly appear that way to me. I'd be asking myself what are they doing right that I might be doing wrong.

Great! Do you keep good professionals a secret back home too? That's great for them not to get work they deserve because "you like to keep them for yourself". I built my business back in the day exclusively on satisfied customers who were impressed and interested enough to refer me to other friends and neighbors, without them I'd not had a business because I did no advertising intentionally because most people who called off of advertisements were time wasters and a PITA when it came to their demands and complaints about cost, or rejecting your estimate just based on numbers not quality when the estimate might be only a few dollars difference, That never happens when I get refereed because my reputation precedes me. Most of my business BTW was with exclusive high end customers of various sports or entertainment and you'd never get those without them passing along your info to their PA's etc.

Yes - the Thais can do a lot - with very little......once they concentrate on something and get to work for a desired result it's amazing what they can do.....

The bashers should be along soon to do what they do well too...... again ...... working with very little......crazy.gif.pagespeed.ce.dzDUUqYcHZci8XVf8

Agree... but the problem is that they don't focus often...

Thai's Thai's

The OP, is the one to blame who decided to satisfy his stomach instead of taking the dog home.

OP is also to blame for putting the dog in the front, any Thai would know better to put it in the back, where there is more room and easier to put it and take out

Even more OP to blame for buying a car with upholstery instead of leather.laugh.pngtongue.pngbiggrin.png

Ever sit in a car in the shade???? honestly you need to get out in the real world, this was only mentioned much later in his post, even in the shade that car will be damn hot, the car bodywork would be very hot, with no aircon on the interior would heat up quickly.

Even half open windows wont keep it very cool, heat will be radiated form whatever he is parked next to especially the ground

You read post number one no mention of NOT being in sunlight and as the dog had pissed on the seat it wasnt happy.

After all, aren't most of the commercial properties in Bangkok well maintained? They certainly appear that way to me. I'd be asking myself what are they doing right that I might be doing wrong.

Im not the property manager, in the case mentioned I said the INSURANCE company sent the workmen and this is often the case, the normal scenario is a water leak ( due to bad practice fitting pipes which MOST Thais do ie they do not clean the joints first ,cleaning the joints means you sand the joint and then wipe it clean with thinner before gluing, some even forget the glue for plastics!)

So this is the "insurance approved" company not hers

I also said we have one man who is reasonable and thats it in 8 years.

Its endemic with the workforce certainly in construction.

Ive been in many an expensive condo and the standards are still poor, oh they can make them look pretty alright but underneath it really aint pretty at all waste pipes joined to gether with a squirt of silicone and guess what??? later it leaks as the proper rubber gaskets werent used

I have also heard a few stories of lift failures with people ending up hospitalised and getting no compensation for broken bones so I see a lot of stuff "swept under the carpet" you simply dont know what goes on and when something does go wrong its mai pen rai and as they dont have any compensation culture they dont care.

There is a whole building of condos at RAMA 9 where the shower floors slope the wrong way, the water runs away from the floor drains, you have to see it to believe it, a major developer built them.

Go to LE LUK condo and ask them HOW MANY panes of glass have broken, its a lot and many of the owners get no compensation at all, 12 month guarantee and even then they changed management companies who turned round and said that it was after 12 months even though reported within 12 months.

My Wife had a hell of a fight with them to get them to fix it and she has spoken to other owners who gave up.

Repair costs are very expensive for this glass.30k+ baht.
