Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

A friend of mine used to travel to thailand very often on visa exempt entry which allows him a 30 days-stay..usually he stays for about 28 days and leaves Thailand.

After a month or so he will travel back to Thailand and has been doing that for the past years.

He is not a visa-runner, flies in and out of Thailand international airports with confirmed return tickets and cash...He will be flying to Chiangmai in a few weeks time and be staying for about 40 days...so he needs a tourist visa.

He went to the Thai embassy in Singapore to apply for one..the staff flipped through his passport and asked him the reasons for going in and out of thailand so often..he told her he is retired going there for holiday..( in fact he has a multi-million house there staying with g/f ).

The staff bluntly told him that these people are going there to work illegally and told my friend to get a 'proper retirement visa' in future...this time they going to issue him the tourist visa and it would be the last time..no more tourist visa for him in future.

The irony of it is this is the first time he is applying for a tourist visa because he is staying for about 40 days..he has submitted the confirmed return tickets to her..

and besides the passport not only has thai immigration stamps but dozens of other countries too..he is worry whether he is allow to Chiangmai in a few weeks time...what a ruling....

He will not have a problem entering the country with a tourist visa.

The only problem he had was the embassy in Singapore spouting nonsense.
