Hi SIRS...and ladies,

since the last thread i have found here in TV forum is a bit older I am having a question on a retirement Visa.

I am married since 14years to a wonderfull Thaiwife, living here since 14years all year long, having a piece of land and a house (i know i have nothing) and a car and a couple of bikes and a small Restaurant since 8 years with 2 staff, but still not more than 100.000.-Baht in my Thaibank account which i never touched in years, ....just dont need it.

I am currently on a Retirement Visa O, provided by a Visa and Accounting office for 25.000.-Baht per year...thats for giving the guarantee for the money and my person I guess.
Since the renewing of the Visa is now 30.000.-Baht per year I found that a bit much and decided to find out other ways of receiving the permission to stay in LoS for another year...

Following post I have found in another thread, but since we are living in fast times and the post was from August 2014 I better ask again.

1) Is Savannahket still not requiering financial proof or

2) IF they do, is 100k enough to get a 1year O -Multiple entry VISA?

3) Does KL still doing 1 year Multiple Entry Visas on the base of Marriage with a ThaiCitizen if 100k in Bank?

Before I worked with the VISA office here I always flew to KL, very nice people in the Embassy there, friendly and helpfull always...absolutely opposition from Penang Consulate

4) The updates on Colombo is a bit old, are they still doing One Year Visas too? any informations on this?

I THANK ALL of you in advance for any helpfull answer ....and i SWEAR ..i was using the search function before bothering you with a new thread...

hope you can read and understand my Engrish

Another option and VERY easy ( besides the travel hassle ) is suvannakhet, Laos Thai Consulate. They do NOT require financial proof ( 400k or 40k a month ) and no need to take pictures of u and wife together in the house and outside etc.

You arrive there in the morning ( before 11am ) and drop off:
- Application with two pictures
- copy of your passport
- copy of wife's id, signed by her
- copy of wife's house book, also signed by her
- copy of marriage certificate ( bring original in case they ask to see it )

Come back at 2:30pm and pick up your multiple - O visa.

I just did this 3 days ago.

Savanakeht still doesn't require proof of financials, so you can get a multiple non-O there. KL does not issue muliple non-O's anymore.

You can also qualify for an extension of stay based on an income of 40,000 a month. To be shown with tax documents if from within Thailand or a letter from your embassy if from abroad.

Thanks UbonJoe, thanks Mario...

since I do not create any income here in LoS, only our shop does, I guess its a bit hard...specially with Phuket Immigration....you know they have a very creative way of reading new rules and regulations from BKK and I am just refusing to go there anymore since 10years. :/

So its Savannahket then for me I guess

THANKS

Since I am planning to travel to Sri Lanka again, I will try to find out today if they are still doing 1year Visas... Its a wunderfull country and I am thinking more and more about a relocation too... Sorry but since all the Russians are here, messing up things, ALL of us Farangs have a bad reputation....i have the feeling they dont want us here anymore ...

"We can issue Non-Immigrant O Single Entry Visa."

If SL was still issuing that visa, the single entry would only be good for 90 days.

was very sure my retirement Visa is finished on 10th of january and just planning my trip to Mukdahan (Savannakhet) when I checked my PP again and learned that my VISA is finished on SUNDAY 4th... thats absolutely phantastic...

Just a question.

1. When I check out on 5th of January will I have to pay a day overstay already? not care because of the 500.-B more about the ugly OVERSTAY stamp in my PP

2. Thinking about riding early tomorrow morning to Ranong (300km from Phuket) and do a short Visarun there, which would give me 2weeks more time before going to Savannakhet, do you think thats a good idea or should I just go to the immigration here and ask for 3days more? ... weekend, most immigration offices closed, so Airport or harbour may be ...

damn ... any suggestions?

You could go to immigration on Monday and get a 60 day extension to visit your wife. She would need to go with you when you apply.

You would not pay an overstay fine it you go on Monday since immigration is closed on the day your permit to stay ends.

thank you for the fast answer Ubon Joe... never heard of something like it. So do you think its no problem in Phuket Immigration to ask for this?

How much would it be and what kind of papers should i bring... guess the usual what i need for the retirement Visa too?

marriage certification, pictures, baanpapers, copys of pp`?

If this works it would help me a lot, so I have time to travel up north or flying out to Germany End of February

THANKS A LOT

No problem to get it at Phuket immigration. The fee for all extensions is 1900 baht.

You will just need your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies or your wife's house book and ID card.

If not living where your wife's house book is for they may ask for proof of residence also.

Copies of your passport pages and TM6 departure card.

This information was TOTALLY WRONG dear UbonJoe ... There is no such thing like when the office is closed you come next day. So I have overstay already and will leave the country now.

There is also no such thing like 2month extension for 1900 Baht to visit my wife... All they offered was a week extension for 1900 Baht, PLUS 500 Baht for 1 day OVERSTAY

THANK you very very much, I really belived what I was reading in TV Forum.

May be its possible EVERYWHERE in the Thaiworld EXCEPT for Phuket...this immigration here is something absolutely special

Sorry things went wrong.

Any other immigration office would of not charged you for an overstay.

The 60 day extension does exist. See clause 2.24 of Police Order 327/2557 basis for extension of stay. They just did not want to admit there was one.

Phuket is probably one of the worst (if not the worst) immigration offices in the country. They make up their own rules on a regular basis.

The information given was correct.

- In case your permission to stay expires on a day immigration is closed you can apply for an extension the first day they are open again without paying a fine for being on overstay.

- You can get a 60 day extension based on being married, your wife does need to come with you to immigration.

It seems something went wrong in your situation. Did your wife accompany you?

guys... SURE my wife was with me. I was there early in the morning and could have NO 5 in the row of the waiting foreigners..

Phuket is probably one of the worst (if not the worst) immigration offices in the country. They make up their own rules on a regular basis.

I know that, I know that since 15 years, since I am living here Phuket makes his own rules and dont follow ANY POLICE ORDERS... 10 years ago I flew to Bangkok because I had a similar Problem with the immigration office here when they refused to give me something stated in POLICE ORDERS ... the women in Bkk Immigration called them and said NOW it would be ok...if not come back again to BKK ... LOL ... good one... I went back to Phuket and had exactly the same problems, they just give a rats....

Since I dont like the Phuket Immigration like the devil the holy water and never visited them again until today, THATS why I was asking

However, I guess its like always PHUKET WINS ... the REAL Bosses of the country do not sit in Bangkok, they sit in Phuket Immigration and laughing about Bangkok... sorry but it must be like it, or anybody explain what the reason is why they can do what they want to do

sorry I am totally upset...after 15years in Thailand I am loosing my patience here
