I have the required funds in Thai bank. Flying to AU on dec 30. I plan to obtain non imm o-a while there. Here is my question. If I get the required letter from Thai bank it will end up being a week prior to lodgement of application as have to get medical etc .

Will this be OK. Thanks in advance

You should be fine, but if the money is in a bank-account in Thailand you can easily get a 1 year extension of stay from immigration, together with a re-entry permit.
